Seen this thing at a car show a few months back... CRAZY ASS SHIT!!
I am selling my 1980 240d turbo if any one is interested it still needs a bit of work but runs and drives
all of the suspension and brakes have been rebuilt with Bilstine HD shocks and w126 vented brakes and more. It has power windows and a manual sunroof working CD player and heater but the AC compressor is missing it has the Rajay turbo kit and 4spd manual transmission
I'm hoping to get $1500 obo towards the down payment of my first home. This car has had a lot of work done to it but needs some metal patches on the LH front by the rocker/foot well other than that it is a very solid car

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/pts/3306278322.html CLK wheels for $100
Simpler=Better It turned out to be pretty rusty-the welded on passenger doors had been rusting out on the bottom, and into the wheel well.
The rear windows and corners are from a K car, and there was some cracking in the paint...which makes me think of flexing.
Driver's seat belts and rear seat mount bolts weren't bolted in due to a PO's hackjob floor pan repair. Legroom is surprisingly large-the cabin was made with the seat all the way back and slightly reclined.
SLS was squatting and described as "sticky"-it apparently will start working if you drive around for half an hour or so.
We jumped the car from his truck, it started up really well. Cold engine, 65* ambient. Fired on all 5. Rotted exhaust
Minor transmission slip-the classic 1-2 flare and short shift into 4th. Actually held the gears better than most 123's I've test driven.
The tailgate was a chopped up back hatch, and is removable. Looks good, a little loose. Not hinged, but it kinda sets down into the bed and is held in place with the sliding door locks you find in a bathroom stall. The bed is made of sheetl steel on unknown thickness. When he walked on it to demo it did bow ever so slightly.
It looked like a beautiful build, once upon a time. I'm going to see if my brother wants it-he has a lift and all the goodies. I'm stuck in apartment land so there's no hope of doing bodywork.
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

Homemade 300T pickup conversion. I don't have the space or time...although it's a wild concept. Went and checked it out.

You should check it out.

I'll call this week some time. I would need to get rid of the parts car to make room though. On the other hand, I would essentially have my 3 dream Mercedes. It is very tempting.....

Can you stash the parts car somewhere? I've got 5 project vehicles stashed across 2 states. Unrelated: wanna buy a cheap sportbike? $$-per-lb/hp it's astronomically cheaper than a Mercedes....gets like 30mpg...

The only reason the parts car is still here is because I haven't taken the engine/trans out yet lol
not mine, but here's an OM601 in the East County San Diego area:

I'm checking it out tomorrow, if it appears to be in good running order and has clean registration, it will be mine by Friday afternoon. The only reason I'm even considering it is because I'll be lucky if the transmission in my w123 lasts another 2 or 3 weeks I think, and I probably won't be able to get my w116 running by then, so in the interim between fixing other cars I will more than likely be driving a 1974 240D
