Well guys, I am pretty sure my HG is blown. I've noticed anti-freeze disappearing lately and found where it is running off the back of the head and down the bellhousing. Obvoiusly its not squirting profusely, but enough to smell it and see it.

If it is blown and I go to replace it, has anyone had experience o-ringing or fire ringing the head?
Just a thought... Smile

Yup pretty much HG issue. My OM602.982 did that @ 240k km. Small external leakage around fifth cylinder and dropping down to bellhousing. The gasket was moving very slightly on the block.

Try mls gasket if you can get one, should show some new fuses elsewhere. Big Grin

I didn't think it was common either Confused
But it almost has to be. I looked for a mls gasket and couldn't find one. I know cometic can custom make one but I figure that would be lots of $$$.

You guys think just re surface the head and put a stock gasket back on it? I run more than stock boost, but I limit it to 18 which I've read is plenty, and if goes as planned I should have a he221 on the way and a w115 intake.

Sure it's not your monovalve leaking? Or the heater core connections?

The head can be one man lifted but it's HEAVY. Like 100lb HEAVY

Yeah pretty sure, you can see it seeping out of the back of the head.

I know they are heavy, I picked my spare head up the other day to carry it to the shop to make a prechamber puller, and they sure aren't light

Where do you guys recommend buying parts from?
I've bought from performanceparts before and their stuff is pretty good but expensive.
