vacuum diagram for '85 617 with manual tranny
I'm working on the next phase of my engine project - replacing the 722.4 with a getrag 5-speed. This used to be a Calif engine (OM617.952 from a 300TD) that has been federalized, de egr'd, etc. and still has the original MW pump with all the vacuum bells and whistles.
I have questions regarding the proper way to set up vacuum --
1. to switchover valve (#126) and boost pressure
(I assume I should keep this in tact)
2. on same input to IP as above, is another line to the vac amp (#123)
(cap this? I'd love to get rid of the blue thing)
3. vacuum control valve (#65 on IP)
(not clear what I should do for this one.
it does make a somewhat direct path to the vacuum pump via several restrictors)
4. filtered inlet from cabin (a)
(keep)
(numbers refer to the standard EGR diagram http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/atta...p?aid=2045)
1) keep.
2) delete line and #123- this is for the auto trans shifting. Then use the open end as a port for your boost gauge or plug it up with a new sealed banjo.
3) delete - this again is for auto trans shifting.
4) delete- don't need this with the removal of #65

Thanks DV, this will clean up nicely!
