FS: Massive Garrett Turbo
FS: Massive Garrett Turbo
It's the one on the left... Came off of a Detroit Diesel 12L engine. I cannot get measurements from the turbine end but the compressor has a diamater on the top of 65MM and the bottom is IIRC 85-90MM. Compressor outlet is 4" in diamter.
Also sports a factory rebuilt tag on the bearing cartridge. Buy it to show off to your friends, make a gas turbine engine, as man cave art, or just to have.
$135 OBO plus shipping anywhere in the continental US.
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Can I run this on my 2.5L truck?

The price is low, but lo and behold...I have no time or money right now
Seeing as a HX35 wouldn't spool past 5psi on a 4L engine this might take a little while to spin up

Not impossible
It's perfect for a compound turbo set up big feeding small

Find a place that does "foam in place' basically the fill trash bags with polurethane foam and it expands and forms around the parts. Makes a nice custom cushion. Any place that ships antiques, fine china, etc. should have one.
They also sell FIP bags with a cartridge inside that you crack and mush, then it expands and fills the bag.
Also, it's double walled corrugated not cardboard.

Im sure you could do that yourself. Duct tape all the holes, put it in a trash bag, put bag in box, spray in great stuff, wait, remove excess.

You guys probably wont believe me but I did some restoration work on an R2-D2 dome from Return of the Jedi (Dome from Luke's x-wing) and we shipped it in a double walled cardboard box and used a spray foam and it made it just fine.
I plan on shipping it in a double walled carboard box and probably will double wrap the thing in heavy trash bags and use great stuff. I wish I had plugs for the oil fittings and other holes but I think it will be fine.
I will get the Garrett part number off of it tomorrow.

Yup, the great stuf trash bag works too but is messier. That's exactly what foam in place is.

Oh I want it bad, but there ain't no way I'm affording it unless you throw in a set of calipers/hoses for a WJ for free

They were 2.3 up until 1997. 98-01 got a stroker crank for a extra displacement and torque. rods, pistons, block, and head are the same

you wouldnt have to hang it up from a engine stand. Just put some small fome blocks in the box as risers to set the turbo on. I use that great stuff all the time I can hardly see how it is hard to use.

rememmber, it expands around 4:1 So just a little will do it.
I would take the turbo, wrap it in a trash bag, and suck the air out with a shop vac, then tie it shut. Then, hang the turbo from your engine hoist so it's inside the box but not touching anything. Then go hog wild with the foam, and walk away.
After it has hardened, trim enough to close the box and you're set. Maybe half an hour of actual labor.

Good to know. Since his 606 is on a stand I figured the engine hoist could use some work :p
