Big Garrett Turbo
Big Garrett Turbo
So I had to leave the junkyard with this today
It's probably too big for my 606 even if I went full on superturbo
It has no shaft play and spins freely plus it has a factory rebuilt plate on it.
I think I need to pull the housings and measure the compressor wheel and turbine and see what I have. I probably is waaaaay to big for my 606, the thing came off of a Detroit Diesel cylinder
So I believe this is some form of GT4202R and I found a compressor map

I really do wonder if this thing is useable if I go full on super turbo. Forged rods, massive inter cooler, etc
Take off the cover and measure the in/exducer It looks like a very good suited superturbo, but spool depends on how big the exhaust housing is
The exhaust housing is large. It's off of a Semi truck engine. Plus it has no waste gate.

I do not think the OM606 can pump this thing up, I think.
I swear I've seen a build here where the person used a Scania turbocharger
The inducer is : 65mm
Exducer is: 90mm
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Maybe a twin 606 car?

If the exducer is 90mm it's not a 4202 (102mm compressor wheel)

TV4502 actually
Compressor wheel 64/92
Turbine wheel 82mm (all the way)
If the big sloppy exhaust housing was swapped for a smaller t4 .9 or something it would be a good atmospheric charger in a compound setup
I have a gt4082klnv that's looking for a home.

My GT42 got "GT42" stamped on the number plate that sits just besides the oil feed line hole. Its from a Volvo truck.

So the only thing wrong is the controller?
Do you know specs on that turbo? I can't seem to find them.
Would this gt42 be a good turbo in an compound setup with an hx35?
Hi,
If the gt4082klnv is catchable in god price I would built on an 6 cylinder engine!
Offoraddieselhu
With a little playing around you can make it a mechanical VNT turbo, using a conventional push type wastegate actuator.
Or convert it to vacuum pull type VNT actuator for EDC application....
If it wouldn't be located in US, I would buy it ^^
it is the soul of VGT turbo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u74Ofbgjaoc
