Is that in Edmonton?

I have not seen it in person, but from the description it sounds pretty good.

I emailed the owner back and forward a few times, I think he wanted more than I offered for the engine.

That sounds really expensive? Over here a e300td can be had for under £1000 with no damage?

Guess you guys don't have as many over there!

Yeah we're pretty backwards over here. A running small block v8 goes for less than a 606. When people think of diesels, they image brodozer trucks with giant stacks billowing clouds of smoke.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

They are very rare in the U.S. not very many people bought diesel cars because of the expense. When a comparable gas Mercedes car cost 10k less like an e320

For every 1 diesel Mercedes sold here something like 30-40 gas cars where sold.

I would be interested in an engine or 2 if we could get the $$$ right. Of course the biggest expense would be freight. The cheapest way would be to co-load a container. A good LCL company would be needed. Maybe ECU-LINE or CFR Freight to name some possibilities. Then of course would be what port to have them shipped to etc? I will be in Chattanooga, TN in a few months, I couldn't commit to anything until I'm there. I'm presently in South Africa for a few months. If you guys get serious and need some help with the shipping arrangements, let me know. My girlfriend has over a decade in Ocean freight.

There are a lot of Holset knock-offs from what I've heard and they're cheap. I can get a new HX40 pro for about $1,000 which is not cheap but it's new and genuine.

(04-09-2013, 09:01 PM)Bangaway Well how much is a good 606.962 in the UK?

I bought mine, heard it running and 115000mls, including 722.6 box and all accessories and fittings for £600 GBP.

I bought a 606.910 N/A for it's IP and including g/box and TC and got that for £400 GBP.

Two typical rusty British cars. They have a terrible reputation over here.

Quite decent later 320CDi engined W211 models are now going for £5000 or less. This is my daily driver, fabulous car, how i would love this engine for transplant, 500Nm torque in factory trim and it can be chipped to go much more. The electronics are way too complicated.

After having a look around at shipping prices I don't see it being worth while unless we could get 10 or so engines and parts in a part container.

As far as I am concerned a good 606 can be had with pump and manifolds minus turbo for 500GBP £ the cheapest I could get shipping for was two engines on a 1x1x1m pallet near enough 400kgs was just under £1200

Is two 606 engines worth £2200?

If you had a container gearbox's etc could be sorted aswell. If that where done it would be cheaper to buy whole e300's and weigh the shell in after selling off other parts to keep costs down.

If you could give your opinion to how much a part or full container would set is back? Just a rough guess?

I have no idea what the cost would be, not even ballpark. I would need to know more details such as which port's etc. If a pallet of 2 engines weighs 400kg, that's a start.

Roughly each 606 is 180kg's I think. Can't be sure on this, all I know is we could fit a fair few 606 engines and box's into a 20ft container. 605's are even cheaper if that's an interest to anyone? How much is a good ls1 from the states?

I'm in the south of the uk so fairly close to a few ports, however I doubt it would cost that much to get the container to any port! Can't comment on where it would go to in the USA I would need someone to be a partner for the stuff that end.
