I have a cosworth differential but I'm interested in getting a truetrac into a 3.69 rear end.
this is a Dana 30 truetrac. the axle shafts appear to be the same size.
the issues of adaptation that I foresee.
1. c-clips: I believe one could use spring clips a la a supra diff (see pic)

2.bearing size: the merck uses LM503349 to a 331944 outer race and the dana uses LM501349 I'll be calling my bearing person as soon as I can.
3. ring gear: I talked to a machinist, who can turn the carrier and make a pilot bushing and spacer for $250 and significantly less for more units. The Mercedes bolts go through the larger holes but don't center.

So super turbo people: what problems can you foresee?
would you want one if it works?
can you see a better way of doing it?

I'm not a total diff guru but I do see racers of other platforms with easy access to torsen diffs spend lots of dough to get out of a Torsen and into a clutch type setup. Not sure why, it seems like torsen is the way to go.

I imagine that many of us in the diesel set would be interested in using the taller ratios. Can this carrier be machined to accept a 2.xx ring gear? I assume you're dealing with a 185mm diff, correct?

Torsen diffs are indeed great, unless one wheel is off the ground
(or suspension is fully unloaded) then they act like a open diff.

That happens on clutch diffs without preloading springs too, such as the 185mm LSD carriers.

It's not happening.
the shaft where the bearing sets on the TT is 1 5/8"
and the bore where the outer race sets on the merck's diff housing is 85mm
and there aren't any off the shelf bearing to span that.
so with $350 for the TT
$250 for maching a pilot bushing and spacer
$??? bearing bushing
and then all the ancillary bits like the bearings themselves.

I am however trying to poke eaton to see if they can just not cut as much metal off to begin with.

So can an ASD handle serious power & torque? It can be fully locked.
