my 300cd's "mods"
Hi everybody! I am new to std so i thought to start out i would share some of my little upgrades and such! Please feel free to ask ask questions!
I installed an m117 fan and clutch. I believe the radiator is brass or copper.
There is way more room between the clutch and water pump so you can easily start those bolts and use the boxed end of your wrench!
Water pump pulley from an 85 300sd. With that fan, it sounds like a 747 taking off at lights!
This is a "dr44g" GM alternator that is rated at 130a but apparently wayyy underrated. Pulley offset is perfect but the upper bracket is currently hacked up because of the alts larger body.
bad pic but this is a w126 16inch aux fan to keep a/c cooler in traffic.
both the headlighs and fogs have been replaced with h4 E-Codes. My normal headlights have standard 55/60w hella halogens. The "fogs" now have 55w hi/lo HIDS. Perfectly safe to other drivers until i pull the knob out!
w124 outside temp display
82bar w126 P/S pump for more assist in parking lots. stock is a 65bar
some fuel pump relays that have a fuse color.
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Awesome! Any more photos of the monster alternator?

No problem!
the dr44g has its charge lug on the rear plus a 4 wire harness to its digital regulator. you only need to use one of them that goes to your factory charge lamp. The others are remote voltage sense, tach output, and some ecu input used on new gm vehicles.
4awg charge and direct ground to the alts body. the other wire from my battery goes to my amps in the trunk
here you can see the ground...
this is the factory alt bracket that is all cut up. There is no tensioner. I am most likely just going to weld a washer on each side when i get new belts though i have not had any problems with this setup!
with my original alternator and new voltage regulator, i went through 3 batteries with in 5 months. what killed them was idling. The voltage at idle with a/c on high, aux fan running, lights, stereo, ect would get low enough that my stereo would go into protect mode and my gauges would act up. I have not had any battery issues since and i have added even more electronics! after sitting over night, my battery is at 13.7! I am very happy!
I dig the temperature gauge idea
(05-04-2013, 04:51 AM)mbz123 Could you expand on how those belts are staying tensioned with the alternator mounted like that. I may missing something, but that doesn't seem too secure.
