`94 E300 STD rolling project
Hello. I´ve been around on the forum for a while now, mostly reading. So now i think it`s time for me to start my own project thread.
The car is a `94 E300 D Sportline. Originally a 606NA car. ASD diff, mushroom interior, tempomat, AC etc. A well equipped car in my opinion.
Bought the Merc for about a month ago and i`m very pleased with it. Firm steering and suspension for the age as well as minimum rusted body. I have tried many cars prom the early 90`s and I think the BMW E34 and Merc W124 is the best cars from that time.
I planned to put in a 606 and get about 250whp out of it, but much wants more... So Dieselmeken made me a 7,5mm 140cc pump. This pump should be good for at least 350-400whp i think.
But with my limited budget i had to go for a HY35 from a `02 Cummins that i had. Any opinion how much HP/NM i will get with this?
Think i will upgrade to a GT42 at the end of the summer..
Because i want to keep both AC and the tempomat i vent for a water to air IC solution. Found a Bosch 044 in my basement that will be used to feed the IP. Turbosmart pressure regulator and a Aeromotive filter.
I will use 10mm(overkill) stainless pipes from the tank to the 044 and from the 3bar fuel regulator after the IP for return lines. Any suggestions on bypassing the original lift pump? Just let it be there or take it of and make a plate over the hole?
JAAS Performance jigged up the turbo on a flange and are welding my exhaust manifold as we speak. They will also make the downpipe and mod my orginal 606NA plenum.
3" stainless straightpipe from turbo and back.
I will be using the old 722.3 trans for a couple of weeks until i get hold on a 722.626. It will be a pain in the ass not to be able to use the 606 properly that time tough
Suggestions?
Greetings from Norway!!!
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Lookin' good!
Did you get enough zip ties on that cam gear?

It's nice to see I'm not alone in Norway with my diesel merch
sounds like a fun prodject
I'll be folowing this prodject
keep up the good work
Tanks! Fun to see that others in Norway are messing with the same engines. Makes it easy to share solutions etc. without speaking english. I`m not so good at that
hehe, yes, you know, I'm not too good at it myself, so It is better to talk norwegian :p
wish I could speak norwegian.
Exhaust manifold finished today! Will post pics tomorrow.
Also got my hands on a nice GT42. Nice turbo to have when i want more power
jasså TheDon, kan du snakke norsk eller æd et bære google translate??
da skarru få ett problem mæ å over setta detta :p hahah xDD
just gave TheDon a challenge :p
I look forward to see you'r Manifold, Mine is just å pile of tubes and looks terrible :p
but the throttle respons is a MASSIVE differense :p
good work
keep it up
a GT42, that take a while too spool whitout some more help dosent it?? :p
Yes the GT42 will be too big for the 606 as it sits, and too small for my S38. But it was only a turbo i traded in a TD04L-14T.
Lets not make this a language thread

Looking good! I defiantly think wrapping headers is the way to go. I did this on a custom header set up on a Subaru WRX and noticed the turbo would spool a couple hundred rpm earlier because of the extra heat energy!
Of course a WRX header is like a mile long with the uppipe!
nice
good work
what size are you going to use for exhaust pipe??
A tip, get it done, and come to Brumunddal, the 7th may, and go streat legal in a 201m challenge In Brumunddal city
Exhaust is 3" straight pipe. Saved the money for the muffler, hehe.
That would have been fun! But i don`t think i will not get my new tranny ready until then...
Other diesels or mostly 50hp/liter amcars? Maybe i`ll drive dovn there to look at it!
Here is the IC kit btw:

I'm glad to see the headers wrapped. On my NA truck and NA bike they both saw a power gain with wrapping, plug it was cooler under the hood

It Will be at least 3 diesel merch, and some turbo/superchared am cars
Yes, take the trip, it Will be awesome
Aaahh.. Fu**in` norwegian customs holds on to my water to air IC kit and the workshop where i was going to do the swap was full until the weekend after easter! I want to put the engine in now, since its ready!!
But i have tried the AMG`s on to see how they fits. God damn i need to slam that car
Ordered H&R 50mm springs and Bilstein B8 all around.
Last time i changed springs on a W124 was 6 years ago, and i tend to remember it as being a hard job with ordinary spring compressors. Is there a special spring compressor that should be used?
yes, it's a hell of a work xD
and yes, there is "spesial" spring kompressors, we got it here, where i work, it is a bowl that you put into the top and bottom of the spring to a "screw" in the middle of the tongue you squeeze it with, but still I had to remove the upper ball carrier and bumper to get out my springs on my W123
Bah!! Thats what i thought.. But we got a Mersu "guru" here where i live. I think he got that compressor, so i can borrow it.
I think you can borrow or rent it att a Bertil O.Steen dealer, Thats what I did the first time :p
Click on the NEW REPLY button. Not the quick reply or the post reply buttons! And then you can add attachments at the bottom. Click browse to find the file then press the add attachments button to the RH side
You can get to the same screen with the full edit option to edit previous posts and add pictures
PB adds some script to it's links that some boards don't like. I manually type in the [img][/img] stuff and paste the direct link in between.
Nah.. the screen becomes white when i enter the PB site. No popup blockers or so are on.
Is there any other sites like photobucket?
Got many pics to upload now. 606.962 is mounted with headers and turbo. Got my watercooled intercooler kit and changed the pedals to manual setup.
Bought a 716.654 from 220cdi++
Does anyone know if shortening the bellhousing to fit singlemass FW is a good solution or is it better to just weld a doublemass?
You can directly upload the car pictures on here
A message comes up where it stands that my pics are too big for uploading here
shorten the bellhousing, that's the best, then you dont get ass much weight, you loose a few NM
but you got loads of it anyways so :p
oh yea! I forgot it did that
I got a free photo resizer to reduce the image size
Needs lowering!
Last pics with 606.910
606.962
Compressorhousing is turned now.
More pics of cooler etc will come!
Also ordered spec stage 4 clutch and PP today!
I have a 240mm mercedes sinter clutch you can buy cheap, it's a Klracing plate, with 26 splines as it is on the merc
Made some oil fittings for turbo and oilcooler today. Also the the new dieselfilter.
JeeeeeY! My 716.654 arrived today.
Tomorrow`s up for some oilcooler, pedals, gauges and radiator for the watercooled IC.
I got drunk, so i`ve only mounted the oilcooler and radiator this weekend. Shit happens
But here is some pics:
Here is the lower mount for the radiator. Made so that the mountings for the orginal fan-cover is still there for later use.
Upper mount.
Oilcooler
Sleeper style! Nothing to see on the outside.
Mounted diesel pipes and manual pedals this weekend. Hopefully startup this week!
that will be nice ;p
good luck
Tried to start it today but with no luck.. The starter cranked the engine real slow. Tried with many different batteries, so its not that. It fired at a couple of cylinders at the same time per round when i cranked it, but no way it was fast enough to start. I have breathed the dieselsystem so there is no air in it.
Is it possible to hook the timing chain one tooth wrong without destroying the valves?
Any suggestions what could be wrong? Really need your help now
or just that the starter i fried :p
(05-10-2013, 12:05 AM)HaavardPYA Aha! Could try to put an extra ground cable to the engine!
