Alternatives to the plastic intake manifold on OM605
(07-07-2013, 02:53 AM)Eric78 Only just realised yesterday that the intake manifold & crossover pipe on this engine are plastic, I'm guessing these won't withstand big turbos, so what are the alternatives?
(07-07-2013, 10:48 AM)Mark_M The plastic intakes are actually pretty damn strong and don't conduct the heat anything like as much so I wouldn't dismiss it just because it's plastic. Not sure if the plenum is big enough though, I have an HX35 & an HX52, I've been considering using them together in compound, but might use just the HX35.
(07-07-2013, 06:55 AM)mantahead you can use aluminium 6 cylinder manifold and cut one port off.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
You can always trace a gasket onto some aluminum and make a plenum

Do you think it can handle 3bars?

Your the man that can find out
If it wasn't such a pain to seal all the holes I would pressure test mine because I can't use it anyway.
If you cant get a 606 inlet and you need it to be alloy then I think you will have to make your own.

(07-09-2013, 01:52 AM)EDH_Performance It will be tested in my 250tdt dailydriver! It looks like a good and strong casting, so let`s hope it dont seperate...

With that pump im sure the engine will separet before the inlet manifold....
