Dose any body know any thing about the old w115 220d mechanically governed injection pumps? in the 220 turbo article he said he just turned up the mixture I have found out that they indeed do have a mixture screw I am curious how much fuel they can pump??? in the article it made a lot of smoke also will it fit on an 1980 240d???

well the W115 220D is a OM615 which is virtually identical to the OM616 which you have - most things are interchangeable.

That is good to know! I know where all these parts are at a pick and pull yard I'll probably buy it and play around and see what can be done with this pump! the same turbo kit I can hit 5psi in 2nd gear where the original car could hit 10psi. I think that it was mostly done with the out put of that pump???

hard to speculate, but over-fueling a turbo that is under worked usually yields more power

I don't think you'll see more power, though the pump should fit. The 200D/220D has 5.0mm plungers where the 240D gets 5.5mm.

Try to get an IP out of the 240D. Easier to adjust and more potential.
Advantages in case you need less fuel are better efficiency (end of delivery earlier).

Older IP's don't get their oil supply from the block. You have to drain and refill the IP seperately every oil change. Just something to watch out for, not sure if it applies to this particular pump.

I'm pretty sure they do need separate oil changes! I'm just curious how they got that much fuel in to that 1971 220d??? where you guys talking about the old 240 pump from a w115 240d? If I pull the pump at the yard what do I need to do for timing marks? or can I just pull it off? my old 1966 200d was noticeably faster than my 240d probably the weight though!

If the stroke of the elements was longer that could equal more fuel and if so what is the stroke on the old pumps??? They look taller than the new ones?

I wonder if I had the w115 220d injection pump on my 240d would the car would need the throttle body to return back to Idle???
