Still need a diff. Learning some more i need the bolt style input flange design. The one on the right is the one pulled from my car.

The different case style does not matter in the way it fits in the car, it is all the same.
Evidently, the diff that was a pulled out from your car was a replacement diff as the original is the same case style in the left.

one other goofy element of mine is that the driver's side axle had the bolt on axle and the passenger side did not.

So for the bolt on axle design one should be able to just take the bolt portion out of the differential and put it into the other style?

Yep. It's all hooked in by a "C" clip. Just make sure you have the proper thickness axle spacers to prevent excessive side to side play.

BTW- I have an extra 3.07 diff carrier and spider gears I can send you. You can get rid of that welded piece and still use your case.

If you don't get one from Greazzer or DV, I've got a couple kicking around as well. I think a 3.07 and a 3.69 (have to verify that one).

Pm if you haven't found one. You know what I want! Big Grin or cash

1974 240D 617 turbo swap, W201 5-speed, in the works project
1983 240D 616 stock, DD
1989 Chevy Astro, 617 turbo swap, T5 5-speed, 4.56 diff, work van
