I am at myrtle beach this week with a friend for vacation, and it is mustang week.
Needless to stay, I've been here one day and if I see another throttle jockey in a mustang I feel like I might come unglued haha

End rant

Yeah, don't really know anybody who actually likes Mustangs

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

I love my 1970. As a wedding present my Dad/ Brother got the engine rebuilt for me by our local old timer shop (saving me like a winter of farting around in the shed). I love the styling, the ride, and the pushrod rumble, and the power on demand. Even when it was running with (1 or more) spun cam bearings and misfires that thing was a beast!

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

All I have seen is new mustangs, couple GT's and a couple wanna be cobras (v6's with switched badges)
No old stangs to be found yet.

this is why you have a built in smoke generator in your car.

They rev and all you get is noise, you rev and its a sensory experience impacting vision, hearing, scent, and taste.

Went to the mustang show today, simply for something to do. And I wasn't really impressed. There was at least 400 mustangs, and not one that just blew my mind. Most we're your run of the mill GT's, lots of supercharged ones, I saw one gt500 super snake. Two were turbocharged, which intrigued me more than anything else. One running parrallel twins and the other running a single. Both had relatively small chargers and I'd guess would be a little over 600hp.
I was hoping for several 1000hp stangs! Nope...

Yeah nobody's driving mine:

The engine bay needs to be blasted & repainted (original green, rattled red by PO, rattled black by 17yr old me)
The transmission needs work (winds up and slams into second)
The motor needs to go back in :p
Needs a real carb, not the junkyard special I was running way back when

The new 5.0l GT's have an impressive motor. Even the 3.7l V6 is stronger than a lot of past Cobra models and probably the most trackworthy setup in the Mustang line.

(07-17-2013, 08:55 AM)sassparilla_kid You mean TBI or multi port and not carb right? lol

Other than the engine bay mishaps this car is really unmolested, and has no serious rust. I want to keep it as stock as possible (hence the 3 speed auto, and the stock rebuild). It should be a fun car to cruise around in and make some noise if I want to. I like ethanol in modern regularly driven cars, but this baby will only be seeing straight gas & stabil.

I WILL be adding AC though, and a simple but nice stereo in the glove box leaving the dead AM radio in the dash for looks.
