Anybody know what this box is?
I found it under a panel by the passenger door in the '85 300SD I just bought. I googled it and came up with nothing. Is it something emissions related?
that egr label sure sounds like emissions
Does that thing open up? Maybe there is some electric or vacuum control shit in there.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

Well I ran the numbers and apparently it's the cruise/engine control module. I don't know why it has EGR on it.

In post #3 as part labeled '80'
On 85 models it has a tach computer in it as well as EGR function. The 85's use two tach inputs, one on the transmission and another on a normal spot (where ever that is). Your tach won't work if you take it out. You can disable the EGR at the source and have no issues.
