As it says. I got a friend who jokes constantly about getting purple underglow for his car.

So I wanna make it reality. He drives a subaru, so doing this at the parking lot at work shouldnt be too hard.

I figure a purple led, battery, shock /movement trigger and a magnet ought to do the job.

Ideas?

you want them to turn on when he's driving around and he dosnt know?

I would try to run cables from his battery one day when he isnt looking if you ever help him under the hood. Or pick him up one day for a night out and Have someone else install them while you two are out.

I would have everything attached to a decent magnet. That way you can just slap it on, underneath.

Does it run off a battery or do you need the car's juice ?

I agree with the magnet idea. A couple of magnets and a dowel rod with a led strip tapped on it. Then, a 9v battery and try and run a photosensor to like the front fender or something.

Peel and stick led light rolls change colors you could wire it up to the battery or any 12v source and it has a remote control to turn it on and off and change colors

no guarantee on how long it will stick under there maybe a few weeks maybe a yearBig Grin but its easy to peal off

has anyone seen the top gear prank, where the rig the horn to go off everytime james may presses the brakes? i thought that would be an awesome idea, with the modification that you put power to the horn and have the ground for the horn dangling around in he springs so whenever they hit a bump it honks away

Lol I thought of the same prank. If it were my car I would laugh but on someone else's I could could see a "butt hurt" situation.

I'm OK with the electronics though. I'd like to think I could solve the issue pretty quick.

Maybe wire it to something like a turn signal . or stereo so at least driving could be done for a while without making them look like a 100% goofball on the road.

As far as the lights thou winmutt, if he's been joking about it he may actually like it in which case doing something more hardwired and permanent.

Well it could be a good idea.

Can't get on eb*y at work, but I'm assuming these are the flat strips with surface mount LEDs and 3M tape on the back? ~$1/foot? If so they're awesome. Super cheap for under cabinet, under hood, etc. I have them lighting up my fancy fiestaware cabinet, and will be installing underhood soon.

Hit the junkyard and get the male & female headlight connector, wire up a plug&play "tee" that can be removed. The headlight circuit shouldn't notice an extra amp or two.

Oooo, I like this method. He turns on the lights, the LED strips fire up. Clever to make a T connector. maybe winmutt can wire in a trailer connector for under the car on this T, so one situation he installs the T, and then all he has to do is plug his lights into the trailer connector he left dangling underneath

Get the generic coil spring spacers from autozoo. They're around $20/side. Drop the rear subframe, slide them under the springs and voila!

Every 1" in spacer makes for 2" in lift. Get an alignment asap though, or you will kill your tires.
