Yo, I am about to road trip it east to the beach in Virginia by way of Kentucky and West Virginia on I64.
Not with the 30yr old benz but the brany new prius. If anyone has any good tips on fun stuff to do along the route let me know.
I am for sure looking for a bar and eatery to get some fresh blue crabs. I'm also looking for a place to stock up a few crabs to stock my fridge if anyone has a line on a cheap source.
Final destination is Virginia beach.

Lol I heard setting fire with hickory smoke to a Prius is good this time of year! Jk jk.

Finishing up my own spur of the moment trip to the new jersey coast via 76. Had some decent cheese steak. Hangin in Pittsburgh tonight.

Safe travels! Enjoy the drive.

I bet this prius would give even your new superpump 300d a run for her money. That thing is smooth, feels like an airplane at like 90mph+

Lol you're probably right. The amount of work put in just to get it as fast as a regular newer slow car is crazy. We took my wife's 96 Volvo 850r on this trip. Average 24.1 mpg.ugh.

That prius will do 50mpg no problem and a bit better if you drive slower. Way better if you're just in town grocery getting.
I heard that new prius in 2015 is going to be up 10mpg better and will be awd under 30mph.
But they're not great for everything. They have about 2in clearance off the roadway and I can get mud and grass all inside of it Wink

well, I'm back home now. We pretty much blasted through West Virginia. We did walk around an art fair in Lexington on Sunday as we headed east. Then, drove and fucked about on our way to the Shenandoah national park in the Appalachian mtns.
That was a pretty awesome place. Went for a good walk in the forest, saw 2 black bears on the switch back mountain rd 'skyline drive'.
Then to Virginia beach's 'first landing' national park. That one is dead center in the middle of army/navy/coast guard/marine training ground and bases. Do not recommend. Then headed south to kill devil and nags head. Now there is a great beach area. The wife has any of those pictures on her phone. If you're near Raleigh that's a straight shot east on state 64, easy fast road.
Now we regret not getting to that area sooner and not staying longer. But, we'll know for the future, that's an awesome place. Then, we drove solidly back home and crashed at a motel for a night.
This is the prius' summary of the trip when we pulled back to our driveway yesterday.
