I need to find a new tranny for my '87 190DT. This had the high torque version of the 722.4, model 722.413. I'm wondering if I can use the transmission from a 300 2.5 turbo, model 722.418. This also has the five disk K1 and K2 packs, which makes sense since the engine is essentially identical. I don't suppose anyone happens to know what the differences are?

Probably a larger diameter output shaft flex disc flange.

The flange will definitely be larger. How hard is it to swap the flange, or do I need to swap the whole tail? Are the input shafts the same?

The other difference I've found is that the modulator is black vs the '87's red modulator. Not sure that it matters, as long as it's correct for the transmission.

the output shaft should be the same size between the 190d and 300d 2.5. The 87 3.0 has the larger output shaft.
