It's not 'behind' the pump. It's a special workshop tool which bolts on once the pump is removed.

Early engines came with a basket in them. Mine's still in there. You've got to use an early vacuum pump gasket if you leave it in there.

Ooops sorry.Blush
This subject comes up fairly regularly. I can post a drawing of the dimensions required to DIY one of these if there is any interest?

NB. for a 606 engine which is all I have access to. It may fit other series engines.

I could use a copy of your drawing. I know I can borrow yours but I like making things anyway :-)

Those crappy little pieces of sheet metal cost over 400 USD. Definitely worth making one yourself.

I would appreciate getting a copy of your drawing.

There are three of us with OM60X engines. Chances are we'll need to pull an IP sooner or later. Not sure what the chances are that the first one will have a basket.

Thank you.

Ok, I'll knock something up. Not done yet but not a problem. It's only going to be a short length of pipe with a couple or three brackets. As long as it holds the timing wheel in place it wont matter what it looks like.

as long as they are the same regardless of om60x engine Smile

was recomended to put one in when changing pumps, and bought one for the reasonable price of 10$ from a guy that got it from his torn om601, shure is hoping that it fits Smile

and yeah, a drawing with dimensions to make one myself would be awsome to!

doesnt have a plan to leave it in, just to change pumps safe Smile
thanks!
