Hi guys!

Bought myself a nice E300 the other day. Few questions:

The car sometimes looses power after driving for a while, a noticeable loss. Taking lots of revs to move it. When this happens the gearbox sometimes takes a few attempts to select a drive, neutral or reverse. And twice (within 100 miles) its refused to shift into the final gear. All these problems can be resolved by turning the car on and off. Until you drive it for a while and it will happen again. Sound like engine issue or auto box?

Also, how strong are these boxes? How much power cant they take?

Anyone ever done a manual swap on one of these? Wouldn't the 5 speed from a W202 C250 fit as its the same engine with a cylinder knocked off??

Have you checked the fluid level, or when was it last changed? Do you know anyone who can read the codes?

Fluid just changed level ok.

No errors on dash etc, have a mate that owns a garage so can get codes read.

Did you change the filter as well?

I think the best place to start is getting the codes read if it's going into some sort of a limp mode.

There's a 38pin socket under the bonnet.
