George's w201 om603.
George's w201 om603.
Hello everyone, this has been a very long project most of it was documented over on 190rev.net, so I will try to transfer most of the later stuff here. Since I am on this forum 24/7 and not so much on 190rev.
Here is a link of the history of where It all came about, this is just the tranny swap page, from where the tranny came from, and what chassis I used before, and what I am using now, long story short:

I have a 1985 w201, used to be a gasser 8vlv m102 motor. Now it has been transplanted with a om603 out of a 155k '86 300D 124 body, using the m102 8vlv 5 speed.
Here are a few posts from the Rev, excuse the old ball posts but tried to merge as much as I could.
Ok small update:
This is a 1985 190 8vlv, will be fully stripped from the drivetrain, fix the usual problems, upgrade almost everything, fix all the rust on it(not very much to begin with).
This is the old 8vlv motor in a dirty bay
This is motor out, with dirty bay
Clean bay
Somehow the motor jumped out of the bay IDK
Update:
Here's the large hard part that has came in from my good friend David Hendy.
Update: 5/12/2010
I finally dropped the motor in, with the m103 2.6 to w201 chassis mounts.
I love the fitment, but not liking the fitment in the front of the motor, takes up the rad space and lots of room in the rear for the firewall, and everything.
So I will go ahead and replace them back to the om603 to w124 mounts and see how that changes.
the hood closes perfectly, no problems with that with the m103 mounts.
There you go motor is in, will come out shortly for the downpipe build, and still have to sort out some other small things, but my deadline is May 27 have to get it running, so there you go.
Ok here is the pictures with the mounts I will most likely be using for the swap.
I used the om603 mounts to the w124 chassis, looks like the best option for me currently now.
This is the info. I have came up with, the m103 to w201 chassis mounts brought the motor very close to the front.
The m103 motor mounts to the w124 chassis was in between but still to close to the front without the 2.6 rad and rad support.
And last was the om603 original mounts it brought the motor the furthest back in the bay compared to the rest of the mounts.
So looks like I will be using the om603 w124 chassis mounts.
Sneak peak of the bay, been so busy lately.
And yes I have reinvented the Mercedes Power steering system.
looking good! great info in the motor mounts thanks for sharing!
Wow, that's a tight fit in there... I think going for a 2.6 radiator setup is the best approach to cooling this beast. But looks like there's no way the 603 Turbo's fan will fit
I think if I put the 2.0 radiator a bit more forward will fit and is enough.
But he need more airflow to cool well !!
The 2.0 rad is barely adequate for the 2.0... 603.960 rad is huge http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/20...lle-11.jpg
Is a big difference of size. But can be compensated with electric fans...I think it is possible
