You sir, are a genius!

Make sure you cross post this in Diesel Discussion over on PeachParts-those guys are always snapping key heads off

Alum wouldn't like the small screws too much, maybe rivets?

If you wanted a black head get an alum one, send it out for anodizing, then have a shop engrave the star on it. Assuming good sized runs, anodizing would be probably $5-10 each, engraving maybe $10-20

They will be anodized in two colors. Black and clear. I cant put an Mercedes emblem, I have heard stories with Mercedes legal getting involved with their trademarked logo

The way I look at its a one time deal with the ss bolts and aluminum. No need to loosen them once the key is installed. I couldn't find aluminum bolts that size.

Screw rivets, tig it all together

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )

I wanted to make one that resistant to weather and time. Hence aluminum and ss.

Also figured steal heads would be cold in the winter my aluminum doesn't get cold that easy

Update! The final design is complete. I will keep it to one design due to it being to expansive having multiple designs. You can choose either black or clear anodize and what style bolts. Phillips or allan. Once i have a full run done and they are anodized i will then start selling them. Now that I have the design figured out, im estimating them complete by Wednesday next week

I like this design, but if at all posable... Don't have the engraving lines go through the Mercedes emblem engraving.

That would really make a major difference in overall fit n finish.

The reason for having the lines go thru the logo is it allows me to sneak past the copyright issue with the emblem

The buyers can always fill in the engraved parts with sharpie or nail polish and leave the "non mercedes decorative circle pattern" silver to highlight it.
