Main Bearing Girdle 605
Main Bearing Girdle 605
I decided to have a main bearing girdle made for my 605. Dropped off the block, front cover, oil pan and pump to have it measured and get a CAD. Then I'll have it water jetted out of .250 or .400. Biggest issue is dropping the oil pan that distance and not having the trans line up with the base of the pan. Not sure what I'll do about that, cross that bridge later.
I'll get some pictures up as they come.
The point of this post is that I'll put the cad up on the patterns page if anyone wants to have one made. Also this would fit a 602 and with simple drawing a 606/603.

(01-19-2014, 07:49 PM)hansendk When your are upgrading for high HP change the main bearings use from a OM612 engine they are 50% stronger
they are SPUTTER bearings like the conrod bearings already used in both the OM605 and the OM612.

That is not correct the hole idea about SPUTTER bearing is that they are stronger invented by MIBA bearing company first used as conrod bearing to deal with the higher load off turbo diesel engine later when CDI came also for main bearings the same also for the trucks OM 444 LA only use as conrod but the OM 500 is also main bearings.
also high load petrol engines use them first that I know the VW 1,8 G60
try Google it and see I just did and look https://www.highpowermedia.com/.../what-are-sputter... there they claim GLYCO invented them that not what I was told back in 1986 but that's like people think that bosch invented common rail.

some neat information on sputter bearings
Interesting fact, there is a MIBA bearing plant just half an hour away from my home town
