Evening all,
I thought i would post my upcoming project.
It is a 94 Mitsubishi Shogun LWB 7 seater
I am awaiting it being brought up from Wales
It is a darker shade of silver than the pics below but essentially this is what it is (new pics will be added next week when it arrives)
It is powered by a 4m40 2800cc diesel but is very prone to head gasket failure and about 120bhp and a bit of torque.
I also have a complete W202 c250td auto sitting on my drive ready to dismantle.
It has 100k miles and was well looked after
I would like to keep the electronic pump (I know, people will start saying get rid and buy a mechanical unit) but some people have had some success with remapping.
So, on to the modifications,
My aim is for low down torque, and a wide spread of power.
This wont be used for pulling or towing but for shits and giggles.
I currently have a K27 that i bought off a former member of this site, along witha few other parts and i think is is almost comparable to the HX35 (please feel free to let me know if im wide of the mark)

I pulled the cold side off the turbo and it has a
49mm Inducer
72mm Exducer
I havent been able to get the exhaust housing off to measure the trubine size but i guessing the 55mm ish
It also has a 12cm exhaust housing
I have also been given
12 2" (48mm ID) 90 stainless bends

I was going to use the 2" for the manifold but it seems this may be too large.

3 meter of 3" stainless pipe
that should sort the exhaust and boost pipes
2 larger intercoolers should i need to make 1 really large one

2 Boost gauges (one for boost, and one for manifold pressure)

My plans for more power have 2 possible directions
I would like to either go the compound route but using the original GT25c turbo and the K27??
Going this route, i would use a 50mm external wastegate from the the manifold to the pipe connecting to the K27 to try to reduce EMP and converting the actuator on the standard gt25c so it runs from a boost source and not vacuum
or get a shorter snout for the super charger i have

I could run a 75mm throttle body at the intake of the turbo as i would have the M112 feed the K27 intake and when the desired boost has been provided by the supercharger the flap will open.

Obviously the pump will need lager elements but this side of the engine swap is down the line.
the engine bay in the Shogun is quite large and i have read Muuris thread about his jeep many times.
The transmission side of things i may go for a Ssangyong Musso as they are bolt on along with its sump and oil pump to help with the install.

That turbo shouldn't be too bad even on it's own, and should support 300-350hp.
I wouldn't dare to use Ssangyong tranny, just because roughly a half of Ssangyongs I've seen for sale are with a broken tranny, at least the 4wd doesn't work. How about G-wagen tranny & transfer case? A bit pricey maybe..

i still have the 722.6 attached to the engine and car and the G wagens use them so it is 1 possibility but i think i need a different output flange, however its the transfer box that im not too sure on as the selector is normally way behind the gear selector.
Apparently it is a VG080 box (seem expensive)
maybe an adapter plate between a mercedes bellhousing and the shoguns gearbox may be a solution
as mentioned im after torque from quite low with a good spread (i wont be exceed the 5500rpm hence the possibility of either compound turbos or the eaton M112 feeding the turbo as i think the trubo on its own would be slow to spool

The tc selector is least of your problems, you can always build a linkage. If tc comes too far back, you'll be having trouble with rear drive shaft angle, if lifting a lot. But Ssangyong driverline + lot of low down tq doesn't sound good. Choosing and installing driveline parts is practically the same effort at this point. Bad choices just mean you'll have to do things again in the future
