I just picked up this nice w114. I want to swap something more modern into this thing and was thinking either 606 or 603. I have seen that a 603 will fit so I would guess a 606 would fit also. How about transmissions? I also was wondering if its hard to get the electronic pump working on a 606 and if its worth it. I know its electronic but what does that even mean? Does it change timing and would the electronic version be better for MPG?

You would need to find a complete donor W210 for the electronic to run the pump and transmission. The pump works the same as a mechanical pump in the terms of fuel devilry. The electronics of it at in the movement of the rack, it has no governor or electronic timing. The ECU takes the place of the governor. I dont think you would have any huge fuel mileage improvements using the factory electronics, only benefit would be smooth power and excellent drivabilty so long as you can sort out the swap... the 603 pump would be best for a swap.

So a 606 with bolt up the older transmissions right? I would assume I would want to at least get a transmission from a newer car like maybe a late 80's car?

606's will bolt up to A LOT of M-B transmissions.

but NOT to the one sitting in his w114 today Wink

w115/w123 200-230E gearboxes and any w124/w201 gearbox and newer will fit the om606....
and depending on what hp-numbers you are aiming at, you will have to find different gearbox.

---------------------------------
daily driver
w115 240d 72hp 3.07 rearend
w123 om602 turbo 200whp 7.5mm pump fivespeed 3.07 rearend
+ a few more.

hi,

interesting project! I'm following this forum for months, but registered yesterday because I wanted to reply on this thread.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I've found a W114 with a broken 2.8l motor (head gasket) that I want to buy (will see it sunday).
Where have you seen the convertion to a 603? I thought the 603 was to long to fit in the engine bay? Do you have a link on a project, just to see how he did it, so I can prepare myself :-)
