W124 turbo diesel pump advice
W124 turbo diesel pump advice
Well I am looking for some advice on pump setup for an om605 turbo w124. I have a w124 coupe with the engine out of a 99 c250 and the fuel pump off a n/a om605 and an alda fitted. The power is okish but not brilliant compared to the c250.
Now my dilema is do I get the pumping elements from the c250s electric pump swapped into the n/a pump. Do I need to swap the cam that drives the pumping elements. I am just looking for the 150ish bhp back in the car as I dont want to affect the fuel economy in a bad way as I am finding myself burying the right foot to get the car to move so I am hoping more power will increase economy.
My other option is to try and get the security side of the ecu removed and run the electronic pump. If I do this will it be an improvement over the mechanical pump.
Many thanks in advance for advice given.
You should be able to get 150hp with the stock 5.5mm elements just by tuning the pump. Info here: http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/Thre...nd-M-pumps
To install the electric pump elements into the mechanic pump has to be done by a diesel shop = expensive
Forget the idea to install the electric pump in your W124. very very difficult.
Take a few photos, maybe you have done something wrong if it is slow.
I have a very good diesel shop beside me and they are charging 150 euro to do it which I think is cheap enough. It has just been bugging me as it doesnt have the power it should but would feel happier with a diesel shop setting the pump as the car is my everyday machine.
