Well boys I am most likely giving up this tired old girl.
Motor is ok, turbo is solid, 2.88 diff. Maybe has a leaky head gasket. Has fried alternator, broken lots of stuff.
Good sheet metal, brand new battery.
Got me a new job in downtown Chicago and I dont need this greazy old bastard.

I'll give her up cheap but, not for another few months. Just chumming the water now so anyone in that area gets a chance to see this post.

Rusted out beat down 300d turbo 82' -- RIP
Nice body, tons of ridiculous mechanical issues - 300d turbo 82' /motor 85'

Congrats on the job. Love about downtown, you can take the L or the Metra in relatively easy. You get your housing right, Who needs a car!... Not!

That. And I can't afford to show up late, covered in grease and diesel to this job.

There are still good parts on this car. Those amber lights sell for like $85 a pair.

bump
insurance will expire 3/14/14
Moving right around then. This may be on it's way to the crusher or a pick-a-part.

I can't take a whole car right now :-(. Keep me in your thoughts though. If you scrap it I'm sure I could use some stuff before it goes to the yard.

My pops is toying with the idea of putting the motor in a van. I'm thinking about going a jeep route someday. I'm hoping I can find a plug and play sorta kit. In the early research phase of that. Not an off road rock crawling set up. Just some a little better for Chicago potholes. Anyone who says you dont need a heavy duty vehicle in a city has not been where snowplows create craters in the road.

I should probably add that our corrupted state seems to use the worst paving material ever. Stupid Illinois.

Instead of jeep, I say solid axles and multi link suspension on the Benz, lifted 4" with big tires

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

Yarp. A solid rear with leaves would be easy too, you'd have to convert to U joints but that's no biggie. Front end would be trickier.

If you got something with a divorced transfer case you could make it 4wd really easily.

Isn't the body in solid shape? If so, you ought to do that with a rust bucket that way you can gut the bottom and install a full frame.
