Hi,
i found a w126 300E (i guess, its Inline 6cyl gas anyhow) on my local scrapyard.
Now, i'm about to put a om606 ST in a 123 200T -86.
so, which chasie and brake parts fits bult on, and which ones should i take that i can make fit?

I'v read that the front brakes fits, how about rear?
the rear axle, do i need to shorten the driveshafts? Or are they strong enough compared to stock 123, that its worth doing?

do i gain any benifits by swaping the whole front and rear axle? Or is it just a waste of time?

Sorry for my poor english.
Regards

diff...
300SE = 3.46 rearend.. so not much gain there.

Brakes
300SE = gen2 w126,
wich means large front brakes, swap shield, disc and calipers over, althou you will need 15" rims from then on.
brakes at the back is the same, especially if you have a 200T car i think...

drivershafts
wont fit your w123, you can change the differential between the two, but other than that, no...
edit: it wont fit, gen2 w126 isnt compatible with w123...

cardanshaft...
this is still not any larger in the flexdiscs than your w123, what you perhaps want to look at is a v8 shaft, wich has larger flex-discs, especially if you are hunting some high HP numbers...

the enginemounts might be worth saving, these are sought after here in sweden from guys that convert their w126 to om606s... (i think atleast)
the brakes at the back is always good to have extra...

where in sweden do you live btw? know of a guy that might be interested in that 3.46 differential....

Ok, but i guess the differential is alot stronger? Or im i wrong? How much would my stock 123 axle take?
if i take the whole rear axel, with swaybars and everything, wont it be stronger? or will it just be way to wide?
I live in Falköping.

i think they are almost the same, but the w126 is wider, and i dont think you benefit anything with that, you will have to fabricate new places for spring+shock to go to the body etc, and the only real difference is a few inches... keep the one you have, steal the brakes as spares at the back...

not nessecarly, and besides a gen2 differential wont fit your car at al anyway, totaly different than gen1 w126 that fits the w123...
(i see i typed the other way around, but no, the differential wont fit at al..)

no idea, if they are healthy its not like its a downside to take them anyway if they are free, uncut springs for w126 isnt exactly growing on trees Tongue
