-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )

From what? Both? Def. need a ride for the 2 years Im supposed to be out here. There's some cool options but I'd like to stick with a Marque/Chassis I know. The w140 is about the last one that I consider to be solid.

(03-07-2014, 04:04 PM)sassparilla_kid Definitely go for the limo

It's very tempting...The 2 reasons I am leaning the towards the coupe are the practicality of driving a limo on these roads/shitbird local drivers(yield and stop signs mean the same thing: absolutely nothing), and if I buy either one, Im going to want to bring it home with me. The possibilty of fitting the limo in my parking spot in my complex is nil (let alone the garage. I'd have to park it on the hill with the blind corner where all the idiots who wanna tokyo drift on a 30 mph road.

I think you should ship both of those stateside and keep looking for a diesel!

Are W123's still used as taxis there?

I'm down with the CL600. How often can you afford to daily drive a gas guzzling v12? If you see a rare diesel later on ( ehhhh G wagon) buy it and ship that vehicle to the states and sell the CL600.

Gota love Mercedes Diesels!

if you've been around you know the 140 cl w/ m120 is the worst car to own! I've seen numerous insane customers sink thousands into these cars and strangely enough, they never seem to stay fixed.

stick to the simple crank window, manual trans and diesel cars

Test drove the CL the other night... Feels/sounds like its missing on 4 cylinders... Absolutely no power and shudders above about 2000rpm... Total shame, looks like current owner has let her slide over the year or so he's owned it. Previous guy bought it new direct from Germany and shipped it back to get maintained... Aside from a few blemishes (it got bahRAINed on...) And the miss, it appears to be pretty solid... I just don't have time or tools to nurse another sick M-B back to health out here...owner says it needs two coils, i can get those and install easy, but who knows what else is required...prolly been corever since even filter changes...search continues. I'm even considering some other options...a few subis, vws, volvos and even something called a rexton made by ssyangyong...supposedly has a newer M-B v-6 in it.

I work based out of Abu Dhabi and I have rarely seen an older MB diesel around, I have never seen a diesel mercedes G-wagen. Everybody wants G55 and G63 or at least re-badge them and put some horrible body kits on them. The Rexton is based on the M-Class chassis with the engine built under license from MB. There are lots of good cars but finding one cheap and taken care of might be the biggest problem.
