OM606.961 front crankshaft seal replacement
OM606.961 front crankshaft seal replacement
Hello all,
The front crankshaft seal in my OM606 is leaking.
I understand that on the OM606 the harmonic balancer, puller and hub are al the same piece.
Any tips in replacing this?
How do I stop the engine from moving?
Is the bolt a reverse thread? (I think it is, but just to be sure)
Any input is most welcome!
One big bolt with normal thread rotation, we used a windy gun so didn't have to hold the engine, try with it in first gear maybe?
I think you can lever the seal out and replace it fairly easy, google will know I'm sure!

Large screw driver or pry-bar on the torque converter drain plug works fine if you don't feel like pulling the starter

I'm no auto expert so check if that's safe/possible before taking my shoddy advice man!
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Ratchet strap a 2x4 to the crank pulley so that it rests against something and you can get the bolt off by hand
