Can a 312 or other sprinter engine be made to run without an ecu to control it ? ie a different pump or modified original pump ?
Anyone already done it
Thanks Nige

If it's a 312D then it's the old 2.9td with direct injection.
Yes it can be made mechanical with a mechanical VE pump, have seen it a couple of times.
AFAIK there is no bolt on mechanical pump available for that engine but can be built.Ask dieselmeken.

Thanks Petar yes I ment a 312 from about 98 . I had one a few years back and was very happy with the performance both power and economy and was thinking about using one in a old chevy pickup without electronics to make it simpler. Nige

You can supposedly run an mechanical pump with the 2.9 from the sprinter.. problem is that 2.9 om602 is a direct injection. From what i'm hearing it is definitely possible but you will run into problems. I have been looking around the interwebs for a while for some research and only came up with results of ssangyong musso swaps. Not too familiar with the 2.9
