i think you either have with or without powersteering.
two ratios, where the powersteering is quicker...

some people in here are converting to "manual" steering for better feel, but not something i would recommend for "performance"

Do not underrate the manual steering box. I believe it is far superior. Setting aside getting rid of a pump and the parasitic drag that creates for your engine / HP, the "feel" of the manual box is 100% better than the power option. It does take more effort if you're absolutely sitting still, but once you are rolling, nothing is like it.

Although I have not personally verified, I heard the 107 steering boxes have a quicker ratio and will bolt on the w123. Only addition you'll need is to get the early w123 steering stops because the 107 box doesn't have one internally.

The startek WSM does not publish ratios, but it does note "pitch ball circulation". It is the recirculating ball screw pitch that determines the steering gear's ratio. Deduce what you can from the info

Interesting. The reason i ask is I am building a rally car for fun. Historical, fun, and not competitive. Rally here isnt huge anyway. my other rally car is a 78 rx7. but i got an om602 for what equates to 200€ and plan to use that. only decision is what chassis. w201 w123 coupe or c107. maybe the 108. w201 is the logical choice. w123 is just neat though.

I always thought a w123 coupe lifted a couple inches, big all terrain tires, floodlights everywhere, would be pretty bitchin

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!
