Hx30s are effecient clear up to 35ish psi, so you wouldn't think the intake temp would rise too much since they are still in their range. Stock cummins run them between 20-30psi depending on the application of course
I've got some funkiness at WOT in 4th gear. PSI goes up to 11, temp hits 1250 and then PSI starts going down and power flatlines. If I let off my foot to 3/4 boost goes back to 11 and EGT's come down but power comes back. I think the waste gate is cracking open. Will report back after some testing. I also have the overbypass valve setup so who knows. Should be pretty easy to figure out when I get some time.
I think I bought the "perfect" intercooler today:
It's from a 2008 BMW 335xi and measures 4-1/4 x 5 x 20-3/4. 28" with end tanks (same width as what I have now) and 3-3/16" inlet & outlet.
I believe this will allow stock/amg spoiler fitment w/o issue.
Bypassing the overboost solenoid was def part of the problem. I saw 13psi for the first time today. I need to go back and check but that might also be the max range of the bosch boost sensor.
[edit]
According to this, I should be good to 3 bar... http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/Thre...4#pid55954, I think I need to hook up an analog boost gauge and verify my digital. IIRC the overboost doesnt kick in until 16psi....

I can't believe you still have that stuff under your hood, much less hooked up. Do I need to tell you it's okay to unhook your EGR too?

Looks smaller than the bmw one. I paid $45 for the one in the pic, shipped. If I don't want it, you want it?

The H.F. fuel injection test kit has a little bolt that will tap at the banjo fitting for lift pump pressure. Pretty easy.

I can send you the stuff from my Mac kit if you don't want to invest. You just gotta promise to send it back when you're done. Mac stuff ain't cheap.
Poop. The intercooler came in today and the dolt didnt even put newspaper in there for padding. End tank broke off. The endtanks are plastic and crimped on, I dont think the aluminum metal is thick enough to weld new intakes on. This is disappointing.
Why not A/W? I hate the idea myself, but I've resigned myself to it. If you want to compare notes, I'm going to be taking on the project with an identical car. A/C will be retained, it will be a DD in The South and appear bone stock.
Fuck the SCCA. AutoX doesn't compare to tracking anyway.
Blew out third gear in the mountains today, 2hrs from home. I was able to drive home with lots of horrible noises. Luckily I have a spare .410 sitting in the garage. Time to start looking for a .414
Time for a 6spd swap the c230 kompressor's are relatively cheap. not sure how they hold up to power yet!

I bought a 240d that was soposed to have a bad clutch. took it for a test drive after I bought it and stuck 1 and revers gear out through the side of the case because of some sloppy linkage and the drove it to my shop 30 miles away with no fluid no 1st gear and no reverse was an interesting drive the noises coming out of that transmission where epic except 4th gear was silent as new. 1.5 hours and a spare tranny and it was fixed
Was inserting a missing spacer between the pulley arm and timing case and found that my silicon reducer from turbo to IC piping is torn... That might explain a few things...
Have a freshly rebuilt 717.430, 9.5 inch clutch and flywheel if the price is right :-)

Today I fixed what were some apparent boost leaks due to shitty pipe clamps rubbing on silicone. We are back to scalded dog. Clutch cant hold boost in third or fourth suddenly . Ripped the ghetto fab I had for my turbo oil drain.
I am seeing boost far earlier now.It is wonderful. What I am not seeing is temps going up with the bosst as much as temps going with revs. Any suggestions?
(05-27-2014, 10:10 PM)raysorenson Think there might be some valve float? Stock springs? 6000RPM?

Wanted to report that my last tank was 28.2 mpg. Not too shabby. I drive in from the burbs to the city every day and tend to get "mixed" driving out of it. Tend to run it as well so its really quite decent.
The 717.430 is sitting on my garage floor and appears to be in good working condition. Clutch is starting to slip in all gears now so time is of the essence.

The grin on my face, shortly before it happened was EAR to EAR. I was in some pretty decent rolling sweepers and on the last one the back end was sliding out a bit too much. About 1/2 mile down the road it went BAM. Selling the core to fellow STDer who promised to give us some tear down pics. Longest 2 hr drive of my life back with that gear getting ground up everywhere. Still looking for a 717.404. Probably won't put the ASD in until then.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Ouch.

The rest of the gearbox is in surprisingly good shape. Id have to wash everything and carefully inspect all the surfaces, but i might be able to take that gear from another blown box.
Question for winmutt, you were in gear when the gear blew, not shifting?
I was curious about path of destruction

Slap a japanese transmission in there. I want to say I saw a 240sx transmission (or a skyline...or something like that) on the floor of a shop. It was skinny and short.

HX35W is en route, will do a 3" exhaust when it's mounted.
Been trying to figure out a more permanent solution for the bushings on the torque arms, ate through the last ones (lemforder) in 6mos, now at 1 year is totally shot. Pretty sure the chrysler LX kit from prothane shares some of the same bushings.....
Yes
The .432 and I think .435 are rated for the same power. The .432 takes a dual mass FW/Clutch setup or the dual mass conversion for a sprinter I believe will work as well.

(11-06-2014, 11:12 AM)raysorenson Is there some published torque capacity data behind this or is this based on past performance of these transmissions mated to high torque motors?

Ahh.. gotcha. I was making sure there wasn't some mysterious data source I didn't know about. The .404 dogleg is also known to support turbo torque but doesn't have overdrive.
At some point or another I have seen torque ratings for all the 5 speeds and sadly not recorded them appropriately.
HX35W exhaust housing is now soaking to get reclocked.
