I see that the 2.3 c230 kompressor 2002 is a choice but requires the dmf (rather have smf) and also that clutch options are limited (stock sprinter clutch?). Is there other gear boxes available to bolt on or adapt to easily for the more robust tuned diesel builds?

as far as I know the only bolt on option(that holds some power) is 716.xxx transmission. And custom clutch. Other option is the ZF g-box 5 or 6 speed from bmw, those are the strongest, but need cut&weld.

lost in the diesel universe.............

Well you can get a sprinter dual to single mass conversion flywheel and clutch. It bolts right on instead of the DMF.Then the six speed is bolt on.

guys i run a 230 kompressor 716 630 6 speed box on my 606.962 in my g wagen with about 200 hp and i have towed big trailers and give it plenty of stick - zero failures .
i have other g wagens running 716.606 and 716 .654 also no problems.
A BIG WORD OF WARNING
DO NOT BUY A 716.605 BOX THEY ARE AN ODD TYPE OF BOX AS THE BELLHOUSING IS NOT OFFSET LIKE ALL THE OTHERS SO WHEN YOU BOLT IT TO THE ENGINE IT IS TIPPED OVER SO BADLY TO THE RIGHT YOU CANNOT USE IT .
BASICALLY THE LEVEL PLUG ON THE GEAR BOX DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO THE FLAT LEVEL OF THE SUMP ON THE 60X ENGINES.
A GUY ON THE PROJECTS SECTION OF STD HAS BOUGHT ONE / HE IS DOING THE STACKED HEADLAMP MERC .
YOU CAN SEE THE PROBLEM..

Interesting. Is that using a single mass conversion?

Just the other day someone was telling me anything more than 140bhp will cook the clutch if you get a sprinter single mass. He then tried telling me I should buy his custom flywheel and clutch setup costing £800! Err no thanks.
