I have a OM606.962 and I've been told the Eaton M90 is loud and noisy ones.

Does anyone know why the M90 is so loud on an OM and not loud on the factory 3.8L V6?

I have a holset hx30/35 on top rpm. But in my Gelendewagen I need more power on low rpm.
Thats why I would like to find out what superchargers that is to choose between.
The one Fred (FRAS) mention looks intresting but a bit expensive before it ends up here with all taxes. The Eaton m90 Its possible to find on a good price but that one is so noisy so after a while I probobly hate it.
Second choice is compound turbo, but now I consentrate on superchargers.

If you use some kind of thick walled charge cooler and 5mm thick aluminum in both tubes and sheet metal you will get rid off a lot off noise. You will draw air via the turbo so the inlet noise should be pretty alright, just make sure you have a good airfiter or even the stock airbox or similar.
When doing a registration on a home made car here in Sweden (SFRO) you have to do a noise control. When I did that the guys from SFRO told me almost everyone who fails do that because off the airbox and not because off the exhaust
Eaton M90 is a good charger and if you can pick one up with the magnetic clutch you can rev that really high on low RPM to achieve boost and then when the turbo kicks in just disengage the clutch.

(01-10-2015, 06:13 AM)tgg416 Thanks FRAS, by thick walled charge cooler, you mean intercooler ? I have already a water/air intercooler so then ne t is a good thick airintake ?
Tanx again all
Water/air is awesome to get noise down and pretty much what I meant. Take a boat for example. Straight pipes above water and straight pipes below water Huge difference really
Good luck mate.

anyone run a eaton 112 with no turbo for quick response at low end ,i.e.for off roading
The m62 and m90 GM used on their 3.8 v6 had silencer channels built into the bottom the sc were in connected to the intake. intake air was routed through the silencer but i do not know how it was controlled, or really how it worked, but it did. if they are stock these motor are very quite and you only hear a little wine with lots of throttle and rpm's.
Anyone tried mounting an M90 on the intake of a OM606 and driving it off the stock belt. It looks like I could do it by chopping off the back half of the charger so it isn't so balky. Anyone got a stock OM606 manifold they wanna sell? I am not ready to cut up my sheet metal plenum on mine.

I'll trade my 606 turbo intake manifold + Eaton M90 + water:air IC
For your sheet metal plenum! I'll pay shipping too!
