I could see the pictures and text fine when they were up the other day!

Planned:

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this belongs here but, here goes.
I've been looking for options on elements for my MW pump and came across the fact that the om606 uses 6mm elements in its MW pump.
Does anybody know if these elements would work for a om617 MW pump?

I've been watching dieselmakkens thread regarding a modified MW pump. But, it seems to have gone dead. I'm not looking for huge output. As my om617 is now in a toyota pick-up on 36 inch tires. Im just looking for a bit more power to turn these wheels just a little better.
160-170 hp 200-220 pounds of torque would be plenty.

The OM606 uses the M pump while the om617A uses the MW. The elements cannot be swapped between them.

But european 617 engines used the M pump and elements from the 606 would fit. So find an euro 300D pump in the junkyard, get a 606 pump and have a shop swap the elements. An external alda would also be useful.

Is there any negative side to running big elements in these pumps? I'm putting a om606.962 in my geländewagen and I'm going for a 250hk or so setup with a HX30 turbo. I prolly don't need as big as 7.5mm but are there any negative sides to running bigger elements than I need? What about 8mm?

The larger the elements, the harder it is to drive with a manual trans in traffic. Might not matter with an auto trans. I would go with 7.5mm for 250hp build.

Agreed. Also the larger the elements the more the engine wants to surge at idle and low rpm.

Dieselmeken elements are around 50 eur each AFAIK, not too expensive.

Could someone explain how pump element is working, I don't understand how element is filling up. There are two holes in element, smaller one is for lubrication which is opening to plunger flag and bigger hole is for element filling. Throttle rack is turning plunger and plunger is moving up and down, I looked one element pair in my hand and I don't get it how element is filling up when it moves down. I can see helix through element hole but it does not make sense for me how plunger takes fuel in when moving down but is not letting fuel back when moving up. Big Grin Some explaining scheme would be great.

The valves on top of the plunger and barrel close when injection is ended. The spring is pulling the plunjer down and creating a vacuum. When the feed hole opens up the fuel flows in. (Fuel also has a slight pressure with it) when the plunjer goes up, the feed hole is blocked off and pressure starts to rise and injection starts. Injection ends when the pressure is released by the helix trough the feed hole. So depending on the position of the helix (controlled by the rack) the fuel is cut off at a certain point after injection, and therefore the fuel delivery is controlled.

hello, i have an OM604 with a vito turbo pump on 6mm elements, this engine cames with a lucas pump, also fitted a GT2256 turbo on it.
the engine is much better than the N/A version, of course, but there is a stutter betheen 1100 and 2100 rpm... and to make the stutter stop i have to gently press the clutch, then is becames normal, the pump delivers 80cc but on the bench it would go to 5500rpm, on the car only makes 4900rpm... what can be wrong ?

I have collection huge amounts of Bosch material, and posted them on my archive.org, and written a bit about them. The dieselpretech upload is a bunch of training documents that explain the inner workings of several pumps and injectors. The warchive upload is every single Bosch diesel document on microfiche that was later digitized. My rough estimate is 50,000 pages of info, if not more. It contains the detailed and never-before-published pump-calibration data, only available to injection pump shops. The mwpump upload is my small collection of documents pertaining to the MW/RW pumps used on the OM617A. Lastly, is a dieselbenz.info wiki page with brief operating descriptions of the 3 parts of the IP, as well as parts lists and links to documents already contained on the archive.org. I also have the complete Bosch EPC and Mercedes EPC, for any part number imaginable. PM me if you want a PN looked up, cross-referenced, or want a PN for something.
