First off hello! Been watching the forum for a while and you all seem very helpful as apposed to many other forums!

How much power can be made on the OM605 with the standard IP?

What turbo is best suited to this engine? I was thinking a holset hx35?

Is that far too big for the standard IP?

If the IP needs altering who in the UK can do it?

Also what Nitrous oxide set ups are people using? Any images or info would be great.

Also exhaust manifolds? Would like to have ago at making my own but unsure if its best to just buy one.

Hi,

The standard IP? Not alot. Id guess just the remap.

Any turbo can be suited, it just depends on your goals - low down torque, top end power, reduced lagg etc.

In the uk? Find a diesel specialist.

I believe KKD is a popular one for exhaust mani.

I would like 250bhp any more would be nice but dont want to be doing head work and internals yet. Who can i get the elements from? I have seen the manifolds your on about but dont like the idea of £550 .maybe second hand?
Any info of nitrous on 505's?
I also want as little to no smoke so would rather have a laggier turbo but enough air to rid.the smoke.

Cheers

It costs pretty much the same to go from 250-400bhp, and you wont be spending money on internals.

Tomnik on here sells elements.

Yeah £550 is a bit steep, but i think its more of a "no one else makes them" sort of thing. Unless you can read / speak swedish / finnish etc.

NoS - Not a clue.

With more power you are going to get more smoke, you can only control it so far.

I realize you will find it hard to remove all smoke but I want it to be as clean as possible, this is why I'm not bothered about getting to 400+ bhp.

I just don't want a cloud of black smog tbh, Most of it can be cleared with enough boost and not too much fuel. I know this will make it spool slower and have higher egts but I can watch this as it goes.

Anyone on the forum able to make manifolds cheaper than this?

The manifolds kkd make look very nice but I'm not sure I can justify it.

Talking about my Floyd elements for M pumps: 60 EUR/piece.
Let me know if you find someone who can produce them cheaper and I buy from you (same quality of course).

No need to speak or read Swedish or Finnish dieselmeken will come up with his own elements (or already has them available).

As long as injection duration is kept short and you supply enough air (not just increasing boost but in relation to the injected fuel) you can have power without smoke.

@booster: safe the money for the manifold until you definitely know that you need more power than the stock mani can do.
The modified pump is necessary anyway and can later be adapted for even more fuel.
And don't go too large for the turbo. This will keep it clean.

But yeah if hes only going for 250bhp there shouldnt be a need to change it.

I will go right up to 400bhp if i can get it without too much smoke!

I'm happy to get the manifold and bigger elements as really I would love to have 350+ hp but Would rather start off smaller!

Anyone have second hand parts?

When you tune an engine for more power there are things that you must have, should have and would be cool to have. So the important thing is to start with the must have first. And that is more fuel and air. So you need larger elements installed (should be by a professional like PP diesel, Myna or Dieselmeken) and a larger turbo. If you go used turbo, Holset are cheap and good. Or new: look at the Master power sold by Antonmies(on this forum).
Then comes the should have: larger intercooler, better exhaust manifold, larger exhaust after turbo. The cool to have list is endlessSmile
You can have a race diesel engine and don't make smoke(Jeemu with his 550hp OM605 can drive all day without making any smoke) You just don't push the pedal all the way to the floorBig Grin
About Nitrous oxide: forget it unless you are building a race engine and need it to win.

I Understand that I need to have larger elements installed, I'm trying to find someone in the uk who will do this. I want it done properly, something which is hard to come by in the uk.

What i am struggling to do is actually find prices for stuff on this forum! looks to be loads around but very hard to work out whats what!

Who can I send my pump to and get it back with the elements installed and set up? How much?

I'm limited to what turbos I can use on the standard manifold, I am happy to change this so that I can get the turbo I want.

If I'm spending the same money on 250 and 400 then I might as well have the whole bang.

I have not been playing with derv for very long and the IP situation is much harder to get your head around than simple Injectors and maps!!

Would it not be a good idea to get a sticky thread with all the people selling elements etc so its easier for people to fine or am I being a tard?

Cheers for the help guys!

Have you by any chance seen waynes thread? called "A challenge for dieselmeken"

He sent his pump to dieselmeken and he slapped it on a test bench and set up his pump and shipped it back, at a price of course.

You arent limited to turbos on the standard mani as no decent big turbo will be a straight bolt up so an adapter needs to me made.

Its probably worth mentioning that if you still with the electric IP it will need a remap. The alternative is to fit a manual IP from a om602. Thats what i intend to do on my 605. Smile

Yes I have no problems getting the remap, the issue is getting the pump set up without paying a fortune!

I would rather have the electric IP tbh, I know many people who can do the mapping. Much better than me trying to set it up using a manual IP.

I would rather get a new mani than having an adapter made tbh.

I will have a look at his thread.

If you know someone who can map then its less hassle than a manual pump conversion.

Also makes more sense to have an exhaust mani rather than spend money on adapter plates. Killing 2 birds with one stone etc.

Im presuming this OM605 is in a C250 as you're in the UK?

I Just don't see the point using the standard mani if I have to use an adapter, Might as well get the welder out and make my own. Or find a second hand one!

If you are still looking for a Diesel Engineer for Element changes, I have used "Diesel Bob Tuning", up in the woods of Ribchester, Lancashire.

If I have the balls and continue on this path, I might get my elements from someone like Tomnik and send the kit to DBT to install and set up.

If you have found alternatives, PLEASE post em up. My W114 is being fitted with an OM605 (C250DT) and I would like to follow the SuperTurboDiesel path sometime.

Buy tomnik elements and send your IP to these people www.dieselpumpuk.com, they do fit and balance into an edc pump for £500. They are in Yorkshire

I've decided to go a different route so my om manifold to t3 \hx35 adapter is up for sale, I'm in Bournemouth regularly if you'd like to see it
