Back in mid 20013 I found a guy in craigslist trying to offload his non running 300D that had been sitting for 2 years in his driveway. He wanted it gone and had a spare engine to go along with it. As well as a bunch of random junk for the car. We made a deal and I had the car towed to the house.

After some new diesel, lines and other miscellaneous crap we got it running strong and promptly went to get it inspected.

One if the fog lenses was gone, even though the light itself worked. Got flagged and they wouldn't let it slide. Decided to upgrade to 5.75" E-code Hella headlights. Huge improvement in the light output!

Passed inspection and drove it for about 200 miles before the old tires threw the tread and had to get a new set of four. I wanted some more ground clearance and decided on a set of General Grabbers AT2s in the flavor of 27x8.50x14R. Really really happy with these tires. They ride great, wear well and have gotten me places at the beach that I never should have been able to get to.

With my new found ground clearance, I bought a Mercedes OME skid plate off of peachparts. Gives a lot of peace of mind. I had cracked an oil pan on a 603 that I had previously from pulling into a high parking lot and wasn't going to ghost another motor like that.

Installed Bilstien HD shocks all around raised about 0.5", handling improved.

Found a hole in my muffler and decided to cut the exhaust system right next to the trans, spools a little faster than before and I have a nice turbo whistle now.

Turned up the boost to 12psi, improved power at highway speeds.

Turned back the ALDA some, happy with the preboost power now.

Had plans to make it out to King of the Hammers in 2014, and replaced my timing chain and put in new injectors. Unfortunately it wasn't ready in time for the trip. The upper range seemed to improve some, but I lost on the torque down low.

Had some extra money and upgraded the 7" lenses to the Hella E-code headlights as well. Threw in some 90/130w bulbs in all four lenses and can light up those back roads like no other! Well worth the $$.

The seats were shot, so I picked up a passenger seat from a w126 and installed on the driver side. Not great but worlds better than what it was. The passenger seat was replaced with one from an early w123 out of the PNP.

Been rocking it as a daily driver since I got it running. Only time its let me down was when the starter took a crap about 5,000 miles ago.

Taken it camping and look downright sharp with a kayak on it.

I even picked me up some high mileage badges

Thanks! The tires were a great choice. Everyone seems to love them..... Except the border patrol guys when we come back from Mexico. We get stopped 9 out of 10 times. I mean if I was seriously wanting to run drugs, I'd get something that didn't stick out like a sore thumb and rumble from a half mile out.
