Nozzles
So i have been reading all night on which nozzles to order for my OM606 98 E300. I have read that the SD315s flow more fuel but cant find them any where. the SD314's are suppose be a great nozzles but the stock nozzles are SD310's im so confused on what to order help please.
What's wrong with the stock stuff? I never hear of anyone trying alternate nozzles on a 4v motor with better results than the 310's.
The injectors flow what ever you give them in quantity so don't worry.
Thanks so the sd 314 bosio are good. I'll get those ordered soon. The car has 190k im sure the nozzles are factory so they need to be changed but the reason i am changing them is because the car has a weird stumble(misfire) at idle once its warmed up. car runs awesome once its past 1500 rpms its a rocketship (to me i just bought it and i own a hopped up cummins) for what it is. hopefully the nozzles will resolve this issue. I am thought thinking its odd because it was -24F 2 nights ago and in the morning the car fired right up no issues at all. CEL on comes up as P300: multiple missfires.
Or just clean the original injectors and change the little heat shield under the injectors. No need to replace them.
So idi nozzles aren't like DI where the pine wears down over time and atomization starts getting worse?

True point... maybe I'll just take them out and have them cleaned repopped and heat shields. Is the special socket needed for removal?

i just use a long oxygens sensor socket 7/8th's .. Been using one for 15 years on 606's. Work fine, easy to find locally.

^^ that seems way more legit to me. Im looking at the bosio ones every where i have read they say the spray is second to none. perfect atomization.
Before changing the nozzles just take off the injectors and let diesel shop to test them. Usually they really just need to be cleaned and no need to change the nozzles. My local diesel shop tests the injectors on manual bench with manual handle, just pressing extreme amount of fuel through the injector and that cleans the nozzle, simple. My 606 donor had over 460000km and diesel shop said there were genuine nozzles in the injectors, so with quality fuel half million km is no problem for merc nozzles.
I have access to a pop tester so ill check them but if the needles look like the ones volker posted cleaning them wont make them atomize right again the needle is shot.
