Ok guys I have to get some input and a vote and so on here.

I have an idea of a STD lottery. Pardon my English but I'll do my best here.

The idea is to have 100-tickets for each $100US, if we sell 99-tickets we will send the money back and cancel the lottery. This can be modified to 50-tickets á $200 or 25-tickets á $400. You get the point right!

The price in this lottery is a car Tongue

Winners choice but for example:

w201
w202
w124

om601, om602, om603, om604, om605, 8mm IP, F-tune exhaust manifold, clutch kit and so on... Winners choice but 3-400hp something like that.

The car has to be built within the budget or if the winner ads more money to just get a $10k discount on his dream build.

If we build the car and we have funds to spare the forum owner will donate this to some charity in the name of STD (if get him right on this).

If the winner lives in the US we can build the car on a shitty chassis (just to make everything fit alright) then dismantle the car and ship the parts on a pallet to avoid vehicle import hustle.

If the winner is EURO based we'll just build on a nice car and ship the whole car.

BUT this is up to the winner to decide...

Option 2 I've been thinking about is a bit smaller then the one above.

25-tickets $50/pc and the winner gets an exhaust manifold of his/her choice Big Grin
2nd price is 30% discount on a manifold
3rd price is 15% discount on a manifold

So guys what do you think???

A very interesting idea, I would consider it for the lower end of the lottery. I could not ever bring myself to gamble $500 for something I may not recieve...
But then again, I am not the gambling type Smile

Far less interest then I expected really.

Here's an example of how a fully built car could look.

BMW e46 touring chassis with coilovers and a Quaife differential.

om606 engine with forged rods, valve spring kit and Stg1 cams.
8mm Dieselmeken superstroker IP
Single mass FW with Sachs 765 PP and a 6-point sinter clutch
ZF GS6 53DZ 6spd gearbox, custom propshaft.
Compound turbo setup - gtx2867r and gtx3582r
Tial 60mm + 44mm wastegate
Big intercooler
3.5" downpipe and a 3" exhaust.

Estimation is 600whp

This is just an example and I have done ZERO calculation of what it would cost to build this, just as you know guys.

In Sweden we have this "A chance in a thousand" lottery that is giving away Porsches most of the times. It's 1000-tickets and each ticket is like $200. Huge profit on that one in contrary to this and I would love to be able to put out a thousand tickets but the STD-crowd is to small I'm afraid Sad

With a thousand tickets we should be looking at $50 per ticket.

If we can get some 25 or so more votes and a huge majority for the exhaust manifold I'll launch it to you.

So basically I pay some money and go into the draw for either a souped up diesel or an exhaust manifold. Do you make them for OM617s in RHD W123s? If so I'd be in!

Why don't you try with the smaller end of the scale first, then move your way up......

Could always go halfway, most people have the chassis they want so why not a full built turnkey engine?

would keep costs down from building and shipping point of view.......

Mmm, a turn key engine is an idea.

We are roughly looking at 100.000sek for a fully tricked out engine dynoed and done. (todays exchange rate $12.300US).

That's $125/ticket for 100-tickets. But on the other hand it's a superstroker compound om606.

Numbers are not checked and double checked, it's a rough estimate. But it's an engine few can afford or have the knowledge to build...

Yea in the "car" deal in my first post we are talking a budget build. This engine is a really awesome engine and as you say it's a chance of a lifetime.

When we talked about this in the shop we actually believed people would buy two tickets just because it's reasonable money and such a good odds of winning.

Still very few votes so I can't risk launching it just yet. But will start with an exhaust manifold and get one happy winner out of that.

In the engine build we can trow in a manifold for second place to and a car amplifier and a set of speakers for third place.

So a little more votes and so on and then I'll crunch the numbers and launch something cool.

Instead of a superstroker we can go for a real manual trans for sure.

BUT guys we'll never sell 100-tickets. We have 15-votes.

Could do budget engine:

8mm IP
Exhaust manifold
Cheap turbo
N/A cams

Single mass FW
765 PP
6-point sinter clutch

GS6-37dz gearbox

That could be done for around $7500US with translates in to $300/ticket if we only go for 25-tickets. Still just a third of the manifold on the engine Cool

Engine only started and not dynoed... The winner can pitch in those extra dollars and we tune it in the dyno and get a nice graph and so on. Winner can also change things like turbo and gearbox for the extra cost it takes.

(02-21-2015, 03:36 PM)MFSuper90 A fully built engine and trans would be awesome, I would spend $100 on a ticket for that. Especially since its so hard to find them in the US. Lots of US participants on that one I bet Big Grin

What about that?

I put in a vote for other. I would be most interested in the engine option. The budget build would be the most attractive. For me it would go into a daily driver. Having a toy is a dream that has to wait.

I have a house that has many demands at the moment. Still too tempting to pass up.

I have a CRAZY idea Smile

What about a full drag race car with 4-link, auto trans and om606? Thinking 9-second car here on the 1/4 mile.

Is that interesting? NOT a registered street car, just a pure drag car.

That can be done for around $10.000 if we keep it super tight and I put in the labor for free. But the deal is that I can use it this season for promotion (2-3 races) and then ship it to the winner.

That's areal win, win for all of us. And we can show those Cummins guys that a 3-liter engine is FAST.

24 votes and 54.17% for an exhaust manifold Smile that's 13 guys voting for that option. Problem is that we need 25-guys/tickets. Also the exchange rate has gone rouge on me so there is no room left for a forum kickback. As of today we need $4 extra on the tickets to be able to give $100 to the forum and that might be to little to get the approval.

Admin can PM me or so about this Smile

Also there is a problem with second and third price with the exchange rate. $70/ticket will take us pretty much back on track. And make a forum kickback of $200 (either for the forum or give it to like the cancer society or similar charity).

However it's no idea anyone send money until we have 25-tickets SOLD.

Would this thread get more attention under one of the higher traffic areas (engine) as a sticky. Just for myself I rarely glance in here.

I'd be down for this. F.R.A.S. you should agree to keep some portion of the funds for your time and effort, you add a lot to the forum plus if this happens you set it all up anyway.

I'd be down for anything but a complete car; U.S. import taxes plus shipping will make that a bad deal for us Americans. You'd be looking at around ~$2,000 USD for shipping costs and that's money that would be better spent on parts we can drop in.

If the choices were up to me, I'd say give us an engine, a superpump (OR A SUPERSTROKER RS203!!!) or an exhaust manifold, in that order.

I'd disagree with sending us a transmission because 722.6's are cheap and easy to get here, can take a beating, and are much less difficult to attach to our cars than any manuals. That might seem ridiculous that we would want an automatic, but when you consider I can buy a V12 722.6 for $110 at a junkyard, use mostly stock Mercedes parts to get it installed, don't need to pay shipping on anything and don't need to import anything it looks pretty attractive. Manual cars are so rare in the US that it's actually difficult for us just to get the damn shift pedals from a W201. The other options are not cheap - even the T56's cost at least $1000 for a beat-up used unit; the BMW diesel transmissions look nice, but what if it breaks? We'd have to order another one with the welded bellhousing from Europe at extreme cost.

Anyway I voted for budget build and the "other" in case you decide to do something else. $500 is a little much for people to potentially lose and I think 100x100=$10,000 is still a pretty good budget for a beast of some sort Smile

You all have valid inputs and I've considered most of the pros and cons already. Problem still is that there are to few people here attracted to the idea and in this pace we'll need another 8-months before we can launch the "lottery".

However the votes are people and not tickets. So if we could do a list that looks something like:

# Mike 2-tickets exhaust manifold
# Dave 1-ticket engine
# Pete 2-tickets engine
# John 2-tickets exhaust manifold

And so on... Then we could easily see when to launch!!!
