Does anyone know what is the maximum safe boost I car run a hx40super at?
Currently at 2.5 bar and it's running like a dream.
Cheers,
Max

3.5 to 4 bar should be fine with a hx40 super. If the engine can handle it Wink

To boost 4 bar the turbo needs to operate at a pressure ration of 5, I have seen few turbo that is in compressor map at that pressure ratio and the operating range within that pressure ratio is very limited in my experience, but of course if you want to try you luck...

I know it's not within the map, but I know that people push hx40s to that pressure daily and they handle it fine. Is it ideal? Most likely not, but it can be done.

Some things are possible but less desirable, if you want to make hot air it is an excellent choice, I really wonder how much you gain, if any, in compare to choose a turbo that is in say 70% within entropic efficiency or go serie set up, at higher pressure ratio isentropic efficiency falls of real fast, specially if you introduce intercooler between stages, and by the work required goes done as well
