Good afternoon all,
I hope you may be able to provide me with a little help.
I currently have a 97 w202 with an OM605 turbo diesel, after a bit of research, I understand that this is basically an OM606 with a cylinder cut off.
After checking out some of the fins, 1 fella is running an hx40, 2.6bar of boost, larger intercooler and a myna pump on stock internals.
My car is a daily, so I am not after 445bhp, but I would like to increase the exsisting 150bhp quite a bit.
I have already obtained a FMIC and junked the AC pump and rad, and was wondering if something like an HX35 (your suggestions for alternitive are greatly welcome) has the same exaust flange as the GT25C that comes standard on the OM605/606.
On the fueling side, would a pump adjustment be sufficient or would it be best to fit 7mm element's (bosch) as there is a very good diesel enginer centre local (they would rebuild the pump at the same time)
I also have the material to cobble a new larger bore exaust system.

I would do every thing exhaust, turbo, inter cooler and hold off on the pump until you got you drive it and see how the power is! Then start with adjustments and if you want more then rebuild the pump last!!! with the larger elements!

You may also want to consider getting or fitting (via welding, etc) an adapter for a T-3 flange, yielding a wider choice of turbos you could use right away. Depending on implementation, it should not take up much room.
Of course, it would be even better to make or buy a proper isometric, merge collected manifold with your choice of flange for the turbo. It is something to consider when you upgrade your injection pump

You cant get a gt2559v in a T3. In fact I don't know of any of the VNTs with t3 flanges. Brynton appears to be in the UK which make obtaining a 2559 childs play.
Thanks for the input, I had a feeling that the GT25c was a T2.5 turbo flange ( I thought the OM606's were T3?).
It looks as though I will make a manifold ( i have a friend who makes dairy pipework so he will be able to provide me with a large number of mandrel bent tubing, all stainless too)
As for the turbo, I am currently bidding on a turbo off a cummins (Holset just waiting for the model number) B235/20. It will only cost £30 ($50), as opposed to nearly £300 ($490) for the gt2559v.
I am aware the turbo off the cummins may be laggy, but at least it will be a start to allow me to mock up the manifold and make a start.

The VNT's still seem quite expensive ( i am not tight, just carefull) in good ol blighty,

are these scale drawings that could go to a machine shop, and how much would you charge for the design??
I have just had a nice dlivery of 8 T316 Stainless 3" bends delivered and the straight pipe is on the way.
Would I get away with the STD maifold for the time being??.

The w202 engine bay isnt as cavernous as the older mercs, there is maybe 2 inches between the turbo and chassis.
When i asked about the STD manifold, I should have stated that is it good enough for the time being with a larger turbo, as a custom stainless item would take a while to create.

As the OM605 only has a gt25c turbo, does any body know how much boost this can comfortably run.
I should have my new boost gauge by the end of next week and I am not expecting it to climb that high up the scale. I have been looking more at VNT turbos especially the GT2559V ( I heard that these are running 2 bar on alfa romeo's) and the GT2256V ( However both of these are still quite expensive) as opossed to the holset HX35's, and the only thing that is putting me off is accuratly converting the electric actuator to vacuum to get a decent set up.
The recent post about the full load adjustment with the resistor has me wondering, is this basically what some of the Tunning companies have in there tuning boxes that cost the best part of £200-£300, as it seems a top mod.
Engine wise, it has done 101k (miles) and i have changed the oil every 6k for the last 5 year and has been well looked after.
The new larger intercooler should be going in the next week or so in preperation of further mods.

I have just aquired a garrett T3 turbo for buttons, and have noticed that alot of the import owners have been changeing the compressors from a T3 and adding them to there T25's to make them a Hybrid.
I have tried to researching if the gt25c on my engine is actually a 'real' T25 or as its diesel, not compatible, but cant find any info.
The AR is 42 on the unit I have just recieved, but have the oppertunity of a 60 trim wheel.
What I am asking is does this sound feasable?? and would the compressor housing need machining??
My thinking would be that if I keep the same hot side as it is and increase the cold size, I would be keeping spool times pretty normal but allowing higher boost levels at higher RPM
Does that make sense??
