got a om617 the other day at the wrecking yard, it was a turbo but there was also a w115 300d, of course i took the intake, also took the injector's and lines as the turbo motor didnt have them anymore. almost always the first thing that dissapears off diesels around here. well the lines are too long for the turbo motor. cant see the tag on the pump, but if its not a m im just gonna leave it in there. different style of goveror on it then the later models too.

To my knowledge, M pumps were only used from 1980 onwards, and then only in Europe on NA engines (excluding OM60x) . Rare in your neck of the woods fore sure. Odd that the lines won't fit though...

1978 300D, 373,000km... OM617.912 with a Holset HX30W, 7.5mm IP, 711.113 5 speed (project car, 7 years off the road and counting ;/)
1977 250 270,000km (parts car)
1977 300D (ex 280) 500,000km

1981 240D 498,000
1975 HJ45 ???,000

I think they are only used in W123 300D Non turbo euro models. To date i have never seen an MW pump in a W123. But i think MW is used on all W115 300D's, even euro models.

As said before.

M pump for 617 will be found on 80-85 300D non turbo engines.

So you wont find it in a w115.

Here's a picture of an OM617 with loop style glow plugs-that means pre 1979 and an M pump

True.
But who says the pump hasn't been swapped?

The vacuum pump is the older version aswell.
