Dawes device
Dawes device
Hi!
Anyone of you familiar with a solution called "Dawes device"?
Thing is I want to turn up my boost.
Im using 617.952 with 7.5mm Dieselmeken pump and a Borgwarner S200G @ 1.9bar boost (27.5psi)
Wanna go a bit higher. Maybe 2.3Bar or so.
The wastegate I have looks something like this:

The device, as I understand is to be mounted between the compressorhousing and the wastegate on the vacuum line.
There is a screw on the device to adjust how much air passes on to the wastegate in order to adjust the boost pressure, without touching the wastegate.

That's how I think it works anyway.
Anyone have input? Tried it? Good/bad?
If this solution is no good, then I might be looking for a stronger spring for the wastegate. Hard to find though it seems.
Mostly I get from google search is gas tuning parts (Less than a bar boost )
I actually just bought one, have to see how it does
Still going strong
Need to finish the exhaust out the back
Also known as the ball and spring manual boost controller. Never tried it myself but people say it works pretty well.
It has a ball pressed on a set by a spring and on the other side of ball there is input pressure. The ball blocks the flow of air until the air pressure over comes the spring.
A side benefit is that it can keep the Wastegate fully closed longer during spool up, which allows the turbo to spool faster and be more responsive.
The Dawes boost controller bleeds boost off via a third office to let you run higher boost levels
LOL. I had to google what a dawes device was. I was sure it was going to be awesome.
Dawes Device is an awesome boost controller that gives you rock steady boost. I personaly use it in every manual build where a MAC-valve can't be used.

I just got one of these. I had a cheap ebay one on my old 300D. For a stock car that is automatic, the biggest change is that when the car shifts gears around 2000-2200 rpm, it keeps that strong boost in the next gear. I think it makes driving in traffic much smoother. And yes, if you have wastegate creep, this will eliminate it. I am happy again so far. My only complaint about the Dawes MKII is that one of the nipples is smaller than the other, so I had to fiddle with some attachments to make it fit the wastegate hose.
