Hi guys!

I put OM603 turbo (turbo from OM606) in my speed boat Glastron. When i start cold engine then is lots of white smoke and engine cant work on low idle,i must give some throtle.after few minutes engine work great but still white smoke.my IP is on 14 ATDC but i didnt make with special tool for it.when i drive boat it cant go after 3200 rpm Huh.Actualy i drive on 2800 rpm and goes very good but dont know why cant go after 3200.maybe i need some new IP setting?

Here is the video of idling

White smoke can be steam/coolant, fuel that has not been adequately atomized or oil leaking into the combustion chamber. Black smoke is too much atomized fuel.

Before i put engine in boat mechanic rebuild her with new piston rings, standard cylinders and new headgasket.my temp is around 85-90 deg cels and coolant level is ok.when i start engine there is lots of smoke and its very strong smell but in drive smoke is gone.engine have only 2 hour of work after rebuild.

Does the smoke smell like diesel fuel or burning oil?

It smells on diesel. What can happen if i put IP on BTDC?
We try it and engine works fine, nice cold start and no smoke?is BTDC good for engine?

My 603 is advanced to 10* ATDC, using the pump timing slot. I think stock is 14* ATDC. Going all the way to BTDC is a radical advancing of timing. I get a little white diesel smoke on cold start too.

We may not be comparing apples to apples. Is this a marine 603 injection pump or is this a car pump and timing mechanism?

My pump is from car,not marine.i put her on 14* but if chain is strech than maybe timing is incorect.also i forgot, when i give throtle and pull back engine make slow rpm back to idle.
I will make video of cold start and you can see the problem
