Most embarrasing dyno run ever
Most embarrasing dyno run ever
So.....
Before I do my engine swapping etc I decided to put my '78 on the dyno to get me a idea of a "before" and get a good comparison of what my mods did...
My engine is a 1981 617.952 which is completely stock except for a removed ALDA (which did nothing). Once rated at 121 flywheel hp @4350rpm.
I know my IP settings are buggered up a bit, it hunts at idle and in low gears at certain pedal positions. I tried adjusting the ALDA but it made no difference so I took it right off...made a touch more smoke. She gets to 11psi @2700rpm...
But anyway, there it is, less than a OM616
Oh yes, looking forward to it alright!
Ha, oh damn. When I turned up I helped them shift 3 cars out of the way, they were all in various states of modding, hate to think the power they'd put out...
My 617 made 124hp at the wheels on the rollers with a W/A, hx30, and modded stock MW. I was hoping for more as well, but I guess it's good to be optimistic
Strange things do seem to occur with dynos, been reading a forum about a guy with a 120 odd hp NA 617 in a G wagen...

Each and every dyno will give you different results as well. And it depends on if it is a inertia dyno, or a load cell or etc. it also depends if they correct your numbers or not.
