Twincharging the stock turbo
Hi all,
Just a quick question on this, I have a GT45 sized turbo which I will be looking to fit at some point to my E300 OM606.962 - this would require a few more mods around the manifold, exhaust, oil lines etc. I was just thinking about perhaps using the stock turbo but twincharge it fitting a supercharger where the aircon pump currently resides - the air con is currently non functional and I am currently removing the pipework.
I know that I can't really run a small supercharger and the larger turbo as the airflow wouldn't be great enough to supply the turbo, however a smallish supercharger and the stock (undersized) turbo might be an interesting combo. I am looking at something like the Eaton M45 supercharger and using the manifold etc from the SLK (keeping it Merc!) - not sure what PSI these usually run at but if at something like 8psi this would give a nice increase in boost and airflow to the stock turbo.
Should I look to try and fit the supercharger and twin charge the engine with the stock turbo or simply wait and fit the GT45 sized turbo?
M45 is tiny. You want a M112. But if you're just going for the stock turbo it might be a decent match, that way you can upgrade as you go along.
It also depends on how you plan on routing it, do you mean you want to compound the m45 with the stock turbo, or will you be going for a sequential setup?
Not sure if the compound setup has been done but if you read through a bunch of threads from a few years ago there was at least one person who attempted a sequential setup with decent results.

Sourcing M90 superchargers for under $150 is pretty easy around me and they arent too heavy (my bathroom scale says mine weighs 28 lbs).
Just sayin.

why bother with all that faf? a well matched BW S200 will spool nice and early and have lots of power!
M112 came off mid 00's jag and available for about £200 here in UK.
M45 and stock turbo are too small for a 606 unless you like your steak well done.
Im running an OM603 12v with an eaton m112 that is pushing an big turbo from scania, the size is about an garrett gt45.
I have 165mm wheel on the crankshaft and 80mm on the supercharger.
I have 0.2 KG boost on the idle, and really really quick responding engine and boost,
Max boost is about 2.1 KG,
The setup works reaaally good, much quick and fast power.

Dieselmeken 8mm 180cc, Gt45 from scania, eaton m112 feeding the turbo,
0.2 kg on idle, QUICK boost and respond, big intercooler, 3'' pressur pipes, 3.5'' exhaust,
Std 300d automatic gearbox, with harder shiftning,
4th gear wheel spinning without problem..
Still much to do, fuelpump, harder suspension, metall and paint inside the enginroom,..
Nice build. Sometimes I wonder why anyone bothers with turbos. Around town supercharging is just so much nicer. But I am sure the turbo is nice at higher rpm also.
