Convert to pressure controlled Turbo
Convert to pressure controlled Turbo
Hi,
since with the evry mod on om605 and om606 electronic pump engines, there is no stable boost i thought to convert it to a pressure controlled internal wastegate. I thought of converting my garret gt20 from a "underpressure" from electronic (vacuum) controlled wastegate, to a pressure controlled one, that controls itself. I think this will help in performance. I wanted to know if anybody already did that to his turbo, wether to a kkk14 or a gt20, i think it should be the same.
Thanks already

The vacuum actuator has the mounting bracket built into it so you have to hacksaw off the vacuum bit and drill some mounting holes to fir your aftermarket pressure actuator
The issue is that its not really a standard sized actuator, I have a spare OEM turbo so might look to mod that bracket and attach a boost controlled actuator to it, in my W210 its going to be quite hard to change it though as its under the turbo but above the cross member and heat shield (typically!).

I did that to KKK K14 from 606 and sold it to Tobulus before we used it.
Ask him for pics and info!

just did it today i hacksawed another normal pressure actuator and fitted it to the turbo. 1 bar boost from 2-5k rpm, with evry 1,3. It feels much better than in stock condition. Will post a few pictures tomorrow.
The boost pipe goes from the pressure actuator to the inlet manifold.

This one is a standart actuator i had liing around from mine china turbo. With evry the car is doing 1.3 bar. Feels very much better then this vacuum shi**.
I just hacksaw it like hario said, made a new thread and it fitted the same like the original one from the gt20.

hi
Everything looks great but what whit electric valve that controls vacuum turbo on w210?

Where i should look for a pressure controlled one?

Yes fu*king LIMP mode goes on.
Anyone have an idea how increase pressure, cause that valve opens WG in 80% of driving time.
One week ago i converted to normal WG and then car goes faster and holds pressure in all rpm, but then goes LIMP
only a remap will stop it from going to limp its outside of it desired boost range,
you are correct though the stock ecu will only pull the waste-gate through vacuum beyond a set rpm and tps position.
This is done to save fuel economy and stop you running boost on the motorway all the time.
because its such a small turbo it will spool much sooner with a pressure waste-gate and keeping it shut until a set boost is made.
evry mod will give you additional fuelling upto a point then the ecu torque limiters will limit power when revving high regardless how agressive you have evry mod.
I have done before a remap on a 1.8 golf whit obd2 .
How its look like on a w210? What i heed for it?
I don' have evry only 10k resistor on presure sensor.
This old ECU is not flashable, so you need to take it apart, desolder two EPROM chips which are One-Time-Programming only. Therefore you also need to buy two chips which are electricaly identical to the ones originaly used, these can be UV EPROMs or Flash memories. Then you solder two 32pin sockets. For reading original memories you need some EPROM reader which will be used to program new memories also, and then of course some software of your choice to find maps and mod them. Super easy.
The problem with the resistor mod on the map sensor is it raises the boost level, but the ecu only fuels for the boost level IT see's.
and this boost level WILL be lower than the actual boost level your seeing. So unless you do both, you get no gain. then you run into limp mode and idle problems.
generally a stage 1 remap +20% power does everybody and sets them up for further mods by just replacing the chips with more aggressive tunes based on there levels of mods.
any ecu i sell i send out remaps free of charge afterwards with the appropriate tool to swap the chips.
nobody likes paying for the same service over and over again.
