I'm rebuilding an OM662 and they have been known to stretch the rods beyond their usable limit before breaking. These appear to have 145mm long rods compared to the 149mm long rods on the OM602, as well as a 26mm wrist pin.
I'm wondering if there are any other beefier rods available and where to source them from, possibly from the direct injection OM602 2.9?

Don´t know the size... did not bother to measure.... if it helps

u can consider the OM611/2/3 OM646/7/8 Rod,  the wrist pin in this is 30mm  if u want let me now i´ll post a pic too.
All is about the piston u want to use....

Yes the rod pictured is the right length and looks like it has a 28mm pin. The 662 piston has a 26mm pin.
I want to use any piston that works with the 2 valve IDI head and the 89mm bore of the 2.9, although it would be nice to swap to a 4 valve piston and OM605 head.

OM 601 2.3 TD found in sprinters and vitos have that 89 with the 28mm and is 2 valve as the 662.
89mm 4 valve piston is the 604 2.2 , the wrist pin is 26 so compatible with your rods and 4 valve head Wink
