Aftermarket gauge thread
Aftermarket gauge thread
Ok, instead of surfing through everyone's build thread looking specifically for this, I decided to try and gather some info and ideas here.
What all has everyone here done with their aftermarket gauges? EGT/boost/trans temp/wtf ever else you want to monitor. I have an idea for one myself but yet to start it.
But anyways, show off your hard work
You could do the Idash thing and use a phone for your gauges. WhippleM104 said he's working on something similar too.
Maybe my intent got muddied. While I am looking for inspiration, that fact is more of a side note. My intent on this thread was for members to share their gauge ideas to help and inspire future builds for all.
Side note #2, awesome setup there!
I have a glowshift, but j don't recommend them. They are poor quality and it has spaz attacks often. I like autometer and Stewart warners. And all your high dollar gauges are probably good too, depending on how deep your wallet is
hows this for a boost gauge ?
its from a ww2 R.A.F. fighter aircraft it was brand new still in its box - gorgeous action super smooth and responsive and it will only appreciate in value / oh and its luminous !
its mounted in my 1982 swb G wagen with a 606a and 6 speed manual box
I saw this thread, and would like to share some info
www.auberins.com is a pretty cool site . You can get universal meters there, that can read many different type of sensors and swith a relay, with adjustable thresholds and stuff
Not expensive, and very good .. here an example:

An experienced diesel tuner once told me: the EGT-probes you can buy for 10€ are worthless.. not precise, and crappy.. so: aeromotive EGT probes

For example this one. I have installed a very similar sensor on a Wankel engine, and was able to measure 1020*C .. the exhaust was glowing red
Perhaps, it is useful for somebody I for sure will use that for my Benz.
I remembered another important one:
https://www.tinytach.com/
Might be useful too
Pyro, Boost, and Fuel Pressure. Boost is LED front lit, I added some ghetto vinyl tape as a glare shield, need to do the same with the fuel pressure. Generic industrial type gauges off ebay.
Got tired of the useless idiot light leaving me stranded when I had a failing alternator, so I got a small digital readout for 3 bucks on ebay.
Fits better than I would have imagined possible, no tape or glue or cutting. Press fit tightly.
I'm a bit of a stickler for aesthetics in my MB's, so I keep them standard.
I hate the dash on my Range rover, and plan to complete the installation of a w124 dash into it later in the year. Currently the auxillary gauges are by Redarc and are top quality. Not cheap though. (I'm over buying cheap shit now.)
