Hello
I've been pondering this for some time I have a been involved in the world of Unimogs for thirty years and I've just come back from the Breslaue rallye in Poland mechanicing for a team (we came third in class ) so I have a Unimog 416 with OM 352 and I want to reduce the nose weight as Unimogs are heavy on the front now I could tune the 352 turbo intercooler but this does not reduce the nose weight this is were the OK 606 comes in its at least half the weight and standard torque is not far of standard OM 352, a bell housing adaptor and a central engine mount would be required and I'm also a little concerned about the intake manifold protrusion into the drivers area but I'm sure a modification could be completed.
What do you think am I mad ?!

you got a problem RPM
om352 max 2800 om 606 6000 so the torque it not at the same rpm the unimog very slow at low speed
i would use the om364A engine only 4 cyl. tuned up you can get the horse power you want and it fits the unimog
and you save weight

Yep OM 364 was my first choice but the weight saving is not as good, max torque from what I've read is in the same region for both engines and the max rpm would increase my top speed with 606.364a is a good choice I've had a bit of experience increasing fuelling on this engine found that if its not kept cool the blocks can twist.
Just thinking outloud I do like the on 606 though ?

Not so much of a problem, but calls for lower gearing.

Shame that 606 is only prechamber unit, it will have problems delivering such torque at low RPMs. 320CDI on the other hand would get you there no problem at half of weight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

thanks guys looks like I'm going 364 route or 314a it's a torque converter Unimog they lock out at about 1800 rpm and was thinking about VVT turbo but might be a waste of time with the torque converter Would like 160ps ideally ?

have u considered a 603 D35 block with a 606 head with a valve job?
u can even run it DI, in the 6 cyl shape there are many mech VE´s that can set to fire a DI 603/6. there is pistons and injectors too, many fields to explore.
very dificultly u´l have the 400N/m at 1800, but sure u´ll have 800 at 3000...
maybe u can convert the mog for high speed Wink

Out of curiosity, what injectors fit it?

Well , that is not so simple like plug and play... got to fab a holder for the injector and seat it in the precup hole, then u can use ford transit TDI injectors.(as example)
as said a 6cyl DI VE can be built very easyly. well for those who have the crap spares laying around.

With 12mm distributor head from cummins, forged rods and GTB2260VK it would be torque monster.  Big Grin

u see , something in that area... like that people may go after the bosio 530 or 735 tip heheh
there´s one 14 mm rotor head out of a agricultural cummins , rated for 2400 rpm , that would be magic.
this 14mm rotor head i´ve seen it digging in the internet one day , i have the cumins pump part number somewhere at home...
that would a hell of MOG...

Projects projects ! I think I'll start another project when I've finished this one, based on 100l it has a remote transfer box and has the OM 602 nice light two piece axles, just not keen on the cab so change that and fit an engine and box for some serious power ! I'll come and talk to you guys about what engine and any modifications ?
But for now it's gonna be a 364la or 314a and turn the pump a bit

To much work for the gains I can get 180ps out of OM364 ? Plus field repair is easier
